Went here to pick up some dry yeast in an attempt to save a batch of homebrew that refused to begin fermentation. Very rustic style place with lots of bins of grains and a good supply of equipment and ingredients. I wish I had more time to browse, but I was on a mission. The employee was very nice and helpful. He gave me some suggestions on how to handle my problem and sold me a package of dry yeast, although he told me that he wouldnít be surprised if my beer was fermenting by the time I got homeÖ well, he was right! After 3 full days my beer fermented. I didnít need the yeast from Oak Barrel after all, but I was very impressed with the knowledge and the service from the staff. Cheers, and Ill try to return soon!

This is the best homebrew supply shop without a web presence. Oak Barrel has been around a lot longer than the current DIY craze that has made homebrewing so (relatively) popular lately. Homer at Oak Barrel has taught countless professional brewers the basics of mashing, recipe building, and fermentation control. What can I say, I love this shop. The selection is very good, but not as good as some of the mega stores online. The prices are very reasonable and they donít try to sell you on something when it can be done cheaper. Service? The service at Oak Barrel is what I imagine service used to be like in the 1950ís - honest people doing their best to help anyone who comes in. And they have beer on tap.

For me this place is great because it is nearby and has ample parking. The staff is helpful if you ask the questions otherwise they just let you be. Usually a sample of homebrew on tap to try (Big plus). The 2 shelves of equipment are a bit sparce and the store area is a bit cramped. The grain and malt syrup have few choices. None the less this is a good brew store, giving enough variety to brew whatever you can think of.

Nice place to get started home brewing. Homer and the rest of the gang are knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. They have classes certain nights of the week. Prices and selection are ok.
