33 reviews for Broad Ripple Brew Pub
| NachlamSie (218), Tennessee | | August 14, 2006 This place just screams British pub. There is plenty of outdoor seating, sectioned-off rooms inside with plenty of cozy seating and tables, and a quaint wooden bar. The feel is very inviting and homey. It’s located right in the middle of a residential area. | | KUEric (83), Washington, Washington DC | | July 23, 2006 Loved the place! The location is a nice tuckaway little street next to a bike trail in a very cool trendy neighborhood in Indy. The building itself was very cool with lots of little nooks and crannys, actual dart boards and a great ambiance. The service was lackluster, imo. The employees had a local coffee shop kind of feel to them, that they believed they were better than you and let you know that. No small talk, no friendliness at all just tatoos and attitude. Might have caught the server and especially hostess on a bad night, who knows. The food was average at best I thought, didn’t care for my burger ... tasted like cafiteria food, but my girlfriends sandwhich was alright. The beer which is the real reason I made a pit stop, was good but not great. Nothing amazing (only had 2) but both well above average, and they had a nice little selection of micros other than their own and no macros! | IPAndy (8), minneapolis, Minnesota does not count - explanation | | July 22, 2006 The beer from the Broad Ripple Brew Pub is underwhelming (I only ever enjoy the cask offerings), but the ambiance is nice, the service is friendly and efficient, and the food is much more inspired than most brewpubs (and reasonably priced). I’ve gotten falafel sandwhiches, tasty "gourmet" pizzas, and jerk chicken. All under $8. So, not really the best in Indiana for the beer, but it is still a fun experience. | | atpayne (28), Zionsville, Indiana | | March 19, 2006 The first brewpub in Indiana, still going strong after 15 years. They have a standard selection of 8 or so brewpub beers on tap, however they are generally leaning much more towards the British style than American. This makes since because John Hill, who started the pub is from Britian. A nice ’house’ character is noticable in all of the beers.
They have a decent selection of bottles, and almost always have two beers on cask, which is definately a nice feature. There is also wine for those interested. The building is broken up into several rooms, each quaintly decorated and offering a cozy atmosphere in which to enjoy the beer and food. The bar section has a TV and pleanty of space to hang out in overlooking the fermentation tanks behind the glass.
The food is done well. They offer pub fare, but it’s not as bland as items you’d find at a chain resturant or pub.
The staff is knowledgable about the beer and friendly. I consider it a must stop if you are checking out the beer scene in Indianapolis, because over the past 15 years they have been one of the only unique beer sites to visit in the city. Things are getting better, but the Brewpub is still at the top of my list for local beer sites. | beerprincess (6), Indiana does not count - explanation | | February 2, 2006 I have just started going here to enjoy their brew. I really have a great time everytime I go! The people there (employees and customers) are always very friendly, the food is stellar and I cannot get enough of the beer! | | Kevin (56), Colorado | | January 23, 2006 nice place with some nice munchies for a large group of drunks. decent selection and they make some good brews. service was great. nice music selection playing on cd.good times, good times. | | jsquire (24), St. Marys, Ohio | | December 12, 2005 I’ve been going to Broad Ripple for years whenever I get to Indy. It is a great English style pub, with lots of wood, dart boards and small, intimate rooms. Nice beers, wide menu, and great service. A must visit when in Indy. | hippie4beer (9), Indianapolis, Indiana does not count - explanation | | December 12, 2005 First trip to the brewpub. Nice place. Small parking lot. Environment is nice, classy. Good selection of beers, bot on draft and in bottles. Service was great. Food was delicious. If your around, stop by this place. | | Tmoney99 (266), Cincinnati, Ohio | | August 15, 2005 Went to college in Indy so finding Broad Ripple was easy but anyone would have no problem locating with a map off the web page. Colts pre-season game was on and the pub was active but not crowded. Servers were very freindly and quick to offer a sampler of 8 brews for $4. Reviewed the menu and was introduced to a fellow HARLEY rider and let him order his hard boiled egg and sausage pizza. Very good. Beers were brewed to style with a sampler list with description on each brew. Good beer and freindly people in nice old style pub. | | JCW (89), Cincinnati, Ohio | | May 7, 2005 [ Updated August 23, 2008 ] Having just eaten prior to my arrival I was not inclined to try the food. The pub presented a variety of English & American style ales with a lager or two thrown in. All were average to pretty good. I love the location - right off a biking trail and among a number of small shops. Inside was pretty classic pub and by the looks of it they must have a pretty steady crowd. Nice place to good and hang out. |
