4 reviews for Crown Liquors Downtown
| fiver29 (16), Cleveland, Ohio | | March 19, 2010 StFun sent me a message saying I should hit this place while in town. I’m glad he did. This place has a huge selection of bottles. Everything that they have available in packs are available as singles, too. Tasting area downstairs. I asked to talk with Mike and he was not working tonight. Too bad. I was looking forward to meeting him. Staff that were there were knowledgable and bending over backwards to assist. That was before I told them I was on ratebeer. I don’t like telling retailers I rate on ratebeer. Only reason I told this store is because I read the other reviews before going in and saw they got a ratebeer discount. So did I. Great place. If I need any more beer while in town I will be hitting this place. | | jsquire (24), St. Marys, Ohio | | March 10, 2010 Stopped by while downtown. Easy to find, and parking wasn’t that big of an issue in the afternoon. Great selection of imports and rare micros. The geek factor of what they had was impressive. The staff knows about the beer, and the Ratebeer discount was a surprising plus. A must stop if downtown. | | Tmoney99 (268), Cincinnati, Ohio | | January 23, 2010 Easy to find location on the corner with signs all around. Parking is good before 3:00 PM and after 6:00 PM. New interior with two levels. Tasting bar in the center of downstairs. Very good selection and walked away with six new beers with the help of Pat. RB discount was given. Well worth the visit when downtown. | | StFun (11), Indiana | | November 30, 2009 [ Updated December 13, 2009 ] Stopped in Friday, and Mike continues to top expectations, which is hard after establishing Indy’s best beer store in Carmel. This place is amazing, and it wasn’t even finished yet. The ambiance is great...two levels of beer/wine/and tasting. Being greeted by a gigantic tasting table as I walk into the basement is fantastic. From the hand blown glass lighting to the century old stone walls in the basement, this place is a sight to behold. Most of the beer geeks from Carmel followed to this store, so there was no lag in the level of service that I had come to expect from Carmel. The giant beer shelfs run almost the length of the store, and I am excited about what is to come. What was there already was fantastic. The usual suspects from FFF, Bells, Founders, Boulevard, etc, along with special purchases from Lost Abbey, Russian River, Hair of the Dog, and more. Also, special releases by the Bruery and Hoppin Frog. And of course, the place had been opened for all of three days and Mike was already welcoming beer geeks for a tasting to christen the place properly. The parking is a slight pain, but I found a spot in about 5 minutes on a Friday evening, so if that’s the worst thing about Mike’s new digs, I’ll take it. Everything is available to buy as singles, and the usual RateBeer discounts apply. Beer Mecca has arrived in Indy. |
