70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20
Visited here last week Thursday during my getaway.
First things first, I really like the location and the building itself. They have a brilliant patio which has one long table ringing a toasty fire. Though I didn’t get to sit at it, I was on constant lookout for a seat there. The inside reminds me quite a bit of a ski lodge with brewing equipment, and though the first floor doesn’t have a ton of room, they have an upstairs where one can spread out.
I thought the service was good though I didn’t have much chance, or reason, to interact with the servers. Everything was prompt and running smoothly, though, so that’s a plus..
Value was decent, since it is, after all, in a tourist town, and the selection is decent with 8 taps. Really, the only pity is that the beer didn’t really strike my fancy. Still, I’d come back for the fire.

In a cute, over touristy, but stunning backdrop of the pass, this brewery is all about the patio. Heaters when it gets cold, outdoor fire pit and lots of seating space give it a ski lodge like feel. Service was counter and not that helpful, but asked someone who knew when I had a tough question. Beer was OK, with a few that were good. Decent pricing for the environment. Although I wouldn’t seek them out, I would be happy to stop when passing through.

Rolled in to get some ticks. The $7.50 for 4 4oz tasters not the best deal ever but hey a tickers got to tick. All the beers were pretty good. They had a few seasonal that I was happy with. I was able to score a pour of the barley wine that was not even on the board.

A very nice taproom, in the winter it offers the comfort of a log cabin, there is a moderate amount of space, and a mezzanine, where a country singer was giving a show when we visited. There are about 8 beers on tap, quite good ones, including rotating seasonals, but served too cold; they are served also in a 6x4oz sampler (10$), growlers, and a few bombers.
They have a barrel aging project and some beer will be released soon.
WiFi available. A very nice stop in Leavenworth.

To me, this seems like more of a "tourist trap" brewery than a "we like beer and people who like beer" brewery. Wife and I stopped in, and they had 8 of their own beers on draught, which they sold for $12. Not horrific, but not very good. There was VERY little seating inside, which was upsetting on a cold winter night, where we were banished to the outside. There were not enough heaters outside, either, to make it comfortable. There were small amounts of food, but it was severely overpriced ($3 for a small bowl of pretzel sticks out of a store bag). The beer was decent, but it was not a fun experience there.

(Visited 09/2012): Icicle Brewing is located in Leavenworth which is about 2 hours east of Seattle. It is at the end of Front Street amidst an idyllic Bavarian village. Street parking and a few lots nearby.
There is a patio in front that offers a view unfortunately of an ugly building across the street. Inside there is a walk up bar and tasting room, and behind that there is a view of the brewery. There is a large board behind the bar listing the beers. Cool tap handles too.
Icicle has 7 beers on tap and they are available in a sampler for $7. They include a Kölsch, Lager, Amber, Wheat, IPA, Porter and a Fresh Hop seasonal and oak-aged Porter on my visit. All of the beers are enjoyable. They offer different methods of take-away beer too including a thermos.
Service on my visit was knowledgeable and very friendly.
We did not have any food on our visit.
All in all this is a great spot to visit in the Wenatchee forest area.
