80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20
Located right off Michigan Ave in Georgetown, Sound is a welcome addition to the HBS market and fills a void location-wise between the northern shops like Bob’s and Cellar and Larry’s to the south. A bonus for me too b/c I work in Georgetown and brew in SODO, so this is very convenient. Good selection of hops and base/specialty grains with decent prices, plus lots of equipment too (stoppers, flavorings, brushes, etc, etc). Main complaint are the somewhat awkward grain bins that are similar to the bulk food ones in QFC stores, which are a little tricky when getting multiple lbs. of a specialty malt. Only open for a week or two, they have lots of space and also carry wine kits and supplies.
