Visited this dimly lit quite posh looking marble palace on a quiet Friday, 3-5 PM or so. Surprisingly slow service considering the number of guests, but at least they were super friendly and the guy at the bar were knowledgeable enough for our needs. Got a wonderful duck confit sandwich and a bunch of lovely beers from kegs. Had a couple of bottled ones as well. The bottle list is the most impressive about this place I think, but since we didnít have much time we didnít get to ruin ourselves exploring it. Not that the prices are ridiculous in any way, but I bet we could easily drink for several hundred dollars without even touching the expensive ones. Anyway, Iím glad we spent the time on the subway to get back and forth, itís a place every beer nerd coming to NYC should visit, but please make sure to look at the bottle list. At least on our visit the tap list was a bit focused on imp stouts and Jolly Pumpkin. I love both, but with 21 taps Iíd prefer if more than half of them were not either Imp stouts or JP.

Long layover at JFK? Take the hour long taxi ride to Brooklyn and visit Torst! Well worth the trip and the $$. Awesome place kinda tucked away. Stopped by on a Thursday at 3:00pm so there were only a few people there. Really cool atmosphere. Clean "dive bar" feel mixed with a hipster coffee shop. Tap list alone is well thought out and has hit after hit. Bottle list is pretty nuts if you want to pick off a bottle of something youíve been searching for but the taps are enough to keep you occupied. Very friendly staff. Will definitely need to return.

Phenomenal bar in terms of selection. Probably one of the best Iíve been to in that regard. Really great variety b/w Evil Twin stuff and other goodies. Pretty tame atmosphere overall but the selection is outstanding. They also organize their tap list more or less according to ABV, which is kinda cool. The crowd when I was there was on the older side which surprised me a bit. Overall, the selection makes it worth it.

Tough place to rate. On the one hand, the selection was quite interesting. 25% of the taps were devoted to various imperial stouts. 14/21 (75%) of the taps were devoted to beers of 7%ABV or stronger. They could use a little more diversity I think. However, they had Schlenkerla fastenbier when I was there, and it was gorgeous, easily the best thing on tap. The vibe was more yuppie than expected, not the typical beer crowd. Staff on the ball on a very busy evening. No one was eating, surprisingly. All the beers are served in a long-stemmed wine glass decorated with pine trees, no matter what the beer style. I did not like this at all, but I suppose it fits with their commitment to stocking mainly beers of >9% ABV: wine strength. The bottle list is short but very well-curated! So overall, I like that they have a vision and that vision is well-executed. This is basically a wine bar for beer lovers.

Nothing to fault at Torst. Modern bar that feels as though the place has only been opened for business yesterday rather than two years now. Sleek marble white bar with backing mirror used for the hand written draft list. Some Evil Twin stuff, Carton, Maine, De Molen... Nothing too crazy on my visit but some fun beers regardless. The bottle list was insanely priced. Simple food menu of small plates but felt pricey for what I got in front of me. The bartender was great - happy to pour tasters, chatty and had good rapport with the punters. Itís well worth at least one visit, although these days I think I mostly prefer more cosy pubs to drink a beer in.

A pretty good beer bar ni a good location in Brooklyn area. Great selection of locals and some rarities. The atmosphere is not my favorite but can understand its attraction in the location it is in. They have a small but good food menu overall. The fact they do different size pours is a big plus. The bottle selection has some goodies on it for the beer geek. Overall a good beer bar to visit while in brooklyn
