Visited late afternoon early evening after jumping off the BART coming from Trappist Provisions. Easy to find and I hear it isnít the best part of town but we didnít have any bad experiences walking here or leaving. Place is nice with clearly a lot of money spent but too bad they cheaped it out on the flooring. Great selection of bottles and draft with knowledgeable staff. Yes, prices are high and there is a high amount of beer douchiness abound. But, it is worth a stop without a doubt. Just not my favorite spot in SF be a good margin.

Iím going to try to move past the Mikkeller pretention and just evaluate the quality of the beer and the service, which was great. Amid a busy crowd, the bartender got me a menu and a beer. I donít like how packed it is here, nor the snobbiness of the crowd, but the beer menu is pretty significant and the serving methods are good. The prices are high, which I guess is expected for San Francisco. Personally, I preferred Hopwater Distribution.

Nice place, life the open space and bar setting. Food was ok, I had bratwurst and it is hard to please a german with good bratwurst in the states. Nice beer selection , def a great ace to go for food beer. Service a bit too much on the hipster and I am too cool for you side but friendly. Good hang out place

Visited on a Friday afternoon and got some seats at a community table by the bar. Nice sized bar. Seemed pricey for both food and beer. Nice selection of drafts with some uncommon and scarce beers. Only tried the Cookies & Creme dessert for food which was tasty. Okay service.

Has become my favorite stop in the city whilst working on a long-term project up in Marin. 1/2 a block from the Powell street BART station - which is nice given that BART is generally useless outside of back and forthing from SFO. Beautiful large open space with a pseudo-horseshoe bar and 3-4 communal tables in the center. The fancy íflux capacitorí tap system delivers beers @ 3 different temperatures. Tap List is one-of-a-kind. Iíve seen beers on draft here that Iíve never seen elsewhere. Pricey? Sure, but well worth it. Food is excellent - the Half-Smoke sausage is a stnadout, as are the Finnochiona and Smoked Char on the charcuterie plate. Location on the edge of the Tenderloin makes for lots of colorful characters on the streets outside. Generally packed in the evenings, I donít believe they take reservations, so expect to wait. As a single, usually not a problem on weeknights to get a seat @ the bar.

Visited later evening on a Wednesday. Located in the Tenderloin, so itís pretty rough in the immediate area. The interior of Mikkeller is large, and beautifully designed. A huge bar wraps around the center, and there is seating all around. There are also tables throughout. The draft list was truly impressive, as were the bottle selections. In addition to selection, the draft system is the highest of high tech - keeping beers at proper temperature and dispensing at the correct speed. I have heard the food is also great, though I didnít try any. We had excellent service at the bar. Overall, a must hit in San Francisco.
88 = ★★★★ (best in area, a must for locals and visitors)
I only use the total score, not the component parts.

Visited during SFO beer week 2014. A place on the list to visit that had opened since our visit to SFO the year before. Great atmosphere and location in the heart of SFOís downtown area. It was an open space with great seating and awesome bar setup. Over 40+ taps of everything ranging from Mikkelís beers to US favorites such as Prairie Bomb. Service was outstanding. The taps were using the newest tap system which was made to pour at the right speed and temperature to get the "perfect" pour. The bar was setup to easily move around the bar with seating completely around it with about 50 seats just at the bar itself. Besides the great tap selection, they had Cantillon and Drie Fonteinen in the fridge as well as some Mikkel rarities to choose from. We snacked on some food which itself was great for the type of fare they were serving. The prices for SFO were also reasonable and the fact you could get half or full pours of any beer on tap. Overall a great experience, a definitely a world class bar with the right setting, service, location and prices. A must visit while in SFO. Highly recommended.

Nice place. A well lit front from the windows leads into a light wood interior and then a Darkly lit brick wall bart area. Big bar area. Bunch of tables too. No tvís. Big draft and bottle list. Draft served by temperature. Food I had was good. But I didnít get any entree s just some appetizers. They were good. Prices fair for San Francisco. I like this place. Well worth a visit

This place is massive compared to the two bars in Copenhagen. Large, open and modern wooden interior, with a separate Sour Room downstairs that reminds me of the Viktoriagade interior. Loud and packed during a Friday evening, nicely peaceful and quiet during a Monday lunch time visit. Impressive 40+ tap system with different temperatures, daily changing list of European and US beers, with a few rarities too. Bottle selection has mostly sours. Prices are very high, varying $6-15 for a pour of 25cl - 50cl, most bottles starting at $20. Food was great, but again a bit pricey. Very central location. Overall a great place, but after visiting Toronado this place just feels too expensive.

Mikkeller Bar is located on Mason Street in downtown San Francisco. There is some street parking and a couple pay lots in the surrounding blocks. The walk to the bar was interesting to say the least, there were a lot of crazy people hanging around.
Cool sign out front, and a window next to the entrance that allows a look into the brewery. The interior opens to a host stand and sitting area. Beyond that is the bar area, with table seating on the periphery and the bar in the center. Very minimalist decor, with MIkkeller-style artwork on the walls, hanging lights and brick walls. The uniform tap handles are visible behind the bar.
The bar has 42 taps (and 2 casks), the majority of which are Mikkeller beers. Other CA breweries like Drakeís, Green Flash, Cellarmaker, Berryessa, Stone and Gigantic. 50+ bottles as well, again most if not all Mikkeller from what I could see.
Service on a weekday lunch hour at the bar was good. The bartenders were all friendly and helpful and were thoroughly familiar with the beer menu.
Food at Mikkeller is upscale bar food and my "Texas Sando" was good.
All in all this is a cool bar that I would put near the top of the list of beer places to hit in San Francisco.
