jaimewithaj (3), Florida does not count - explanation | | February 8, 2010 This place has the best selection of beer probably in central FL. The associate was helpful and I walked out of the store satisfied; well worth the hour trip. | | bedainedebiere (22), Terrebonne, Quebec | | February 5, 2010 It is quite a challenge to get there for a tourist but what a reward to find it. Impressive service; the guy knew exactly where were the beers on the shelves and he proposed me newer or older bottles. Tremendous choice but there would have been a few more brewers to deserve a higher score. World class beer store anyway, for sure. I’ve never seen so many beers but, of course, I come from Québec’s Imaginary country, where the beer offering is majors, locals and a very few european beers, which could explain the high suicide rate, maybe... | | darn1207 (32), Tallahassee, Florida | | December 17, 2009 Finally got here after several near misses. Cozy place with wine and such up front and the back half dedicated to brew. It was a good haul - a few De Dolle, couple Bells I hadn’t tried, Nogne, Hoppin Frog, Thomas Hooker, Weyerbacher Unfiltered Double Simcoe, Haandbryggeriet, etc, etc, etc. The selection is quite good. Service was one guy and he was helpful and knowledgeable. Only disappointment was no Cigar City - but I was told that they are in good with CC and normally have it. Great stuff - deserves it’s reputation. Will go out of my way to stop in any time I can. | | kennydiaz (14), staten island, New York | | November 16, 2009 I called before hand and got Chris on the phone. He was able to tell me what they had on the phone so I did not waste the trip. The beer selection is second only to oak tree buy right is s plainfeild NJ. They had an excellent selection of bells, Belgiums, Nogne, brooklyn, and cigar city to name a few. I want to thank Chris and Alan for there help and I promise to bring them something from Goose Island because I noticed its one of the few beers they don’t carry. | BrianDorry55 (2), Spring Hill, Florida does not count - explanation | | November 4, 2009 Ive been waiting to come to this place for some time...finally got a weekend in Orlando...a little hard to find but worth the driving around in circles...Its located right next to the NYPD Pizza just before the Publix.
As far as ambience...nothing special...but the store was quiet and the employees gave me my space when I pretty much told them I knew what I was looking at.
The staff was extremely helpful...the few questions I had asked them, they had the answer for...when I asked if they had in any good Pumpkin beers, one of the guys walked to the little fridge in the back and pulled out a Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin and said it was the last one they were going to get and he put it in there for himself but I could have it...when I asked them if they had anything special hiding...the guy up front pulled out a Fantome Pissenlit and Smuttynose Gravitation and said those were the last they were going to get. Just great guys and very helpful.
The Selection...the best Ive seen hands down...a bunch of Jolly Pumpkin, Fantome, DFH, Great Divide, Dieu Di Ciel, Mikkeller, Unibroue, Nogne, Hitachinos Nest, Bells, Gouden Carolus, some Cigar City, and a bunch of shit Ive never even heard of (mysterious italian beers in badass bottles. Just a ton of stuff for a florida beer store...ive gotta imagine the best selection on the east coast. Also looks like a great selection of meads and sakis. Also have a bunch of various glasses (snifters, trappist glasses, pints) all being sold for $5 each (I bough a nice Duvel snifter myself).
As far as value...probably the best your going to find in a store with this much stuff and such a great staff. $10-$15 for Jolly Pumpkin and Fantome. $8-$10 for Cigar City. $7-$9 Mikkeller. Peche Mortel and Stille Nacht were both around $5 I believe...
Overall...Awesome...I’ll be back asap for myself and to do some trading...Spent the $120 I could afford...wished I had at least 10x that...
| | DeadGirl (43), West Palm Beach, Florida | | October 29, 2009 A friend and I visited this place before we hit up Redlight, Redlight... and wow. Their wall of craft beers is amazing. I spent about 20 minutes just admiring their selection before I got my hands on anything. Feeling overwhelmed, I went to the friendly guy running the place and popped my iPhone out with RateBeer’s Top 50 webpage on the screen. I gave him the phone and asked him that whatever he had just put it in my cart. He knew of them all, and with what he had available, knew exactly where to find them. I ended up walking out with about $90 worth of beers. Still have yet to drink them all. Sweet stuff. #23 on 29102009, DG. | | drowland (45), Tallahassee, Florida | | October 11, 2009 This place rocks!
The ambiance isn’t anything amazing, but surely nothing bad. It’s in a strip mall and pretty crammed, but it’s more than worth it.
The service was fantastic. The manager was working when I was there, and he was great. He knew exactly where everything I needed was and even gave out some samples - what a great guy!
The selection was fantastic. It wasn’t the largest I’ve ever been to, but it was one of the best in terms of styles, vintages, Belgians, brewers, etc... TONS of great stuff here... surely the best in Orlando, if not Florida.
The value was pretty good. I ended up buying a couple of beers and was quite happy with the price, and I mean, samples as well, come on!
Overall, if you’re in Orlando, you must go - there’s just no choice. GO! | | Rustyham (34), miami, Florida | | September 29, 2009 Definitely the best beer store I have ever been to. I spent $535 split between a friend and I just on beers we had never had before (over 100) and that’s only about 1/10 of what the store hasin stock. Unfortunately, they only had one Cigar City beer when we got there. Either way, it is worth the 5 hour drive from Miami when you have lots of money to blow. | | Teege (12), Orlando, Florida | | September 29, 2009 Best beer retailer in Orlando. Also great selection of liquor, mead, and booze in general. Alan is a great guy. Always a nice place to pick up something interesting when I’m on that side of town. | | SudsMcDuff (38), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas | | September 21, 2009 1st. thanks to Alan for the tips and for keeping up a great massively packed store. lots of crazy Belgian 750s!! also decent lambic/sour variety (you think you are a sourhead? try Sarasola Cider, that is the ultimate test)
outta the 45 bottles i purchased a couple were way past expiration (terrapin pale ale was a year old).. but aside from that (its a packed lil store)
I wish this was my local beer store, that would be heaven! |
