| stefanje (21), (Santee) San Diego, California | | September 14, 2009 [ Updated September 23, 2009 ] Never realized that I had not rated this place before. The place is pretty much a dump, but a good dump. The staff was friendly and ready to talk--the beer was excellent. I bought a growler today, the glass cost $10.00, I consider this (the cost of the glass) excessive. Hard to believe such great beers come from this site, I guess that here we see proof great people equals great beer. This facility is currently undergoing renovations. Cheers BP staff. | | NEA (10), California | | August 7, 2009 Been to Ballast Point many times. Love to stop in and taste the variety of styles of beer they brew. | | ghawener (33), San Salvador, El Salvador | | July 31, 2009 Is this Ballast Point Brewing or Home Brew Mart? Neither is well operated. To be fair, it was being remodeled when I went but staff was vague, uninterested, rude. They just pointed to ´the rack where the recipes are´ and ’here are the ingredients´. Could get a price and frankly did seem a bit bother my an amateur home brewer maybe more experienced brewers know their way around. Ballast Point Selection was basic, even the lady attending the ’bar’ seemed bored. | sentient1z (6), Mitchell, does not count - explanation | | July 29, 2009 I had fun here. Samples were great. Service was excellent. Just don’t blink, or you may drive right by. Very enjoyable stop for any beer enthusiast! | | JohnnyJ (29), Carlsbad, California | | April 19, 2009 Nice little place. Lots of home brew equipment laying around. Good selection of Ballast point brews on tap. Friendly staff. And the prices were reasonable. A good place to stop by if you are in the area. | | Taverner (77), San Ramon, California | | April 6, 2009 Great guys there, and the whole homebrew atmosphere is great. They will let you taste all their great beers - and there’s always something good on tap. | | maniac (90), Richmond, Virginia | | January 21, 2009 Visited on the first day of RBSG2008. Small tasting room attached to the brewery. They have most of their beers available for free tasting. Standard issue brewery tour. Tasty beer (and some rather tasty beer cheese as well). | | JoeMcPhee (262), Jackson Heights, New York | | October 29, 2008 HomeBrew Mart with WeeHeavySD. Sort of a typical (but well-stocked) homebrew supply shop but in the back there is a little passthrough window where you can sample the wares. Tastes are pretty damn cheap... and they aren’t terribly stingy with the samples either. They have a lot of special batches that aren’t ever released commercially or that are draught only at this location. Growler prices seem pretty fair as well. I quite enjoyed this spot. | | padrefan98 (34), (San Diego) Santee, California | | October 2, 2008 Been here a few times to pick up a growler. Excellent selection of thier brews. | | illinismitty (224), Nashville, Tennessee | | September 18, 2008 Stopped in during RBSG. This is located in a business office park and can be easy to miss. They have small, but clean and simple tasting room with most of their offerings available for sample or purchase. Brewery tour is short, and pretty much like any brewery tour- tanks, fermenters, and the brewer/owner discussing the beers. Ballast Point is a great brewery, and I think they get overshadowed by the hype surrounding Alesmith and Port. Definitely swing by if you are in the neighborhood. I enjoyed every beer I tried. |
