Nice beer bar with a quite nice "inside" garden, besides a school building. Has quite a nice selection of beers (about 15-20 I hadn’t had when visiting). Service depended a bit on who was doing the waiting, but overall quite fast once they managed to note your glass was empty. Their pasta was quite filling for the stomach, so well worth spending some time both eating and drinking.

Fantastic place to have a beer and eat. I took my wife here as it is only 5 minutes from the house. I have to say I was drawn by the Hoopi but the food really made the visit. Went during lunch and the house special was being eaten by everyone but us. Reminds me of an English pub in the biergarten. Bonus for being so close to home!

Bamberg’s "beer bar", but really most of the beers are the type of beers you see in export markets. Not bad as a change of pace, though. I thought their menu was a little more interesting than the typical Franken kuche. Service can be spotty on the back patio, if they forget you’re there. Otherwise, a nice place and probably worth a stop if you don’t have time to explore the country breweries, as you can pick off a few of those beers here.

One of Bamberg’s best bars by far. Has a nice garden/patio conducive to hours of sitting. Did not go inside so have no idea what it’s like in there except for toilets...But is not a traditional Bavarian place. The menu is crazy, they have more food than any other place in Bamberg and with Pelikan, it’s a good beery place to go when sick of Bavarian food. The selection is amazing for these parts, and they have many beers hard to find (or impossible) in other parts of Bamberg such as the full Andescher line.

This place is always the first stop for me when in Bamberg. It’s only a 5 minute walk from the railway station, which is great when you haven’t got time to visit all the breweries - you can have a perfectly kept Herrenpils from the tap without actually having to go to the Keesmann Gaststätte. The beer-menu is absolutely phenomenal, offering many of Germany’s top-rated beers and even some rarities such as the Kulmbacher and Aventinus Eisbock for great value. But the best thing about this place is the weekly rotating specialty-tap that supplies a lovely variety of Franconian Landbier and Bock (during the season from October up until May) - always gives you a reason to keep coming back, really spoils you for choice. The interior is nothing special and the waitresses are a little slow and sometimes get beers mixed up, but are therefore perfectly friendly.

Very nice old school pub with leafy courtyard. Cheap, solid food with some hard to find beers. A must in Bamberg in my opinion.

Not much by way of ambience, just an ordinary small pub, but a neat collection of German beers. The staff were quite young (like teens or early 20s) when I was there, which seemed kind of odd, but nothing wrong with it. Several taps and quite a lot of bottles, none of it big-brewery crap. Worth the long walk from old town. There’s a decent Thai restaurant right across the street too.

Good to see I’m not the only person that thought the food was pretty average, but other than that you can’t really fault this place. Fantastic range of beers both on tap and in bottle that you can’t get elsewhere including gems like Griess Kellerbier. Nice little courtyard out the back, and a very studenty vibe. Not far from the station and Weyermann, but a fair way from the altstadt - still walkable though.

Nice non-touristy cafe/bar close to the Hauptbahnhof, looking like a typical german students pub. Excellent selection, especially around christmas - many superb Bocks available !
