Luvjessica (1), Anytown, does not count - explanation | | August 23, 2009 What a great place! The selection is waaaayy better than I’m used to. More beers I’ve never seen than anywhere else. (Although they didn’t have double dead guy which is my new love.) The guys there are super-friendly and even told me about ratebeer! These guys know way too much about beer and can answer just about anything you can ask. New to Florida and I already found a new home! Thanks Kevin! | | UofFkid (32), Orlando, Florida | | April 17, 2009 I’ve read about the Abbey for years but never was in the neighborhood. Quite the trek from Orlando, but a great hidden jem. Great tap offerings, great "Stock Exchange" concept. Hope to be back in the neighborhood again to see what’s on tap. | | DragonStout (73), Pataskala, Ohio | | September 17, 2008 Stopped here on our way home.It was a chore finding the place. It was a cozy little place that had great service. The beer selection was above average and had a decent menu. The food was good. | | BeerVirgin72 (75), Pataskala, Ohio | | September 4, 2008 Okay. This was a strange little place. Definitely not what I was expecting. First, its kinda in the middle of nowhere, and was a bit hard to get to. However, once we were there, the interior was very nice and welcoming. We sat in the little couches and I could have taken a nap. The waitress was very knowledgable, very friendly, and took great care of us. The beer list was awesome. And the food was basically paninis and salads. A bit limited for my tastes. I dont think I would go out of my way to go here again, but if I was in the area, I would definitely drop by. | | kiefdog (101), Tampa, Florida | | June 23, 2008 Tried this place for the first time a few months ago and was definitely not disappointed. The day we visited was sunny and cool, so the entire front of the Abbey was open to the street which gave it a very European street pub atmosphere. The Belgian beers on tap that day were pretty excellent St. Bernardus, Piraat, Leffe, and a few others. Very nice bottle selection as well. Unfortunately, they were out of Trappist Rochefort 10, so I had to settle on a bottle of the 8, served in the appropriate Rochefort glass. The food we had for lunch was very good and they had a decent selection of it. Prices are competitive. Sadly this place is two hours or more from our house or we would visit more frequently. | | dchmela (52), Orlando, Florida | | April 14, 2008 Had a group of friends all go try this place out and we really liked it. The wines were good and I had a flight of IPAs (Acme, Redhook, Hebrew, and 90 minute), plus they have an impressive bottle selection. Relaxed decor and couches plus a nice bar. Service was outstanding and staff was fairly knowledgable. While it is a haul from Orlando, a neat new place to visit. | | juiceisloose (11), Windermere, Florida | | November 9, 2007 [ Updated March 22, 2008 ] My fiance and I visited here a few weeks ago and we really enjoyed it. This was quite a trek from my house in Orlando, but I will gladly make the trip again to go back. The selection is pretty good as there was some stuff on tap that I hadn’t had before, and their stuff is always rotating. It is a nice cozy setting with some couches and live music playing as well, which was nice. They did have food, but i didn’t try any of it. The service there is really friendly and knowledgeable about what they have. I met Todd the owner and he was really nice too and talked to us for about 20 minutes and even shared a beer as well. The only drawback was the prices are pretty high for the stuff they have. I am used to Redlight and all the great prices that are there. This is a really great place and look forward to coming back again and bringing some friends this time. | | smartlung (25), Valrico, Florida | | April 10, 2007 Where the hell was this place when I went to school there!! It’s nice to see that students now have more options besides Anheiser Busch! Menu has a selection of favs! Good job! Cheers!!! | gottalottaibu (7), charlotte, North Carolina does not count - explanation | | March 6, 2007 not bad at all. pretty good selection and the staff was very nice and helpful. blows me away that this place is in deland. the set up was a bit off for me but hey, went for the beer. good place, definately support these guys. | | mgumby10 (47), Jupiter, Florida | | January 18, 2007 This place is great, ive been there 4 or 5 times now as it is a trek from orlando for me. Usually go with boboski and solan but i am always up for making the journey. Todd is a great guy, and his passion for trying new beers and making his bar the best it can be is very encouraging. Great selection on tap and in the bottle. Also, have had the luxury of trying a few home brews on more than one occasion from friends of his bringing beer to the bar. You know its a great bar when you got people coming to the bar for beer, and people bringing beer as well. Keep up the good work and see ya soon! |
