Well, I’d only recommend the house triple to tickers (alcoholic nonsense, IMHO), but the rest of the menu looks pretty solid. Staff did their job more than adequately. Need to visit again to concretise my view of this place. Not blastingly good, but with almost no negative aspects either. And I like listening to classical music while I sip my beer!

Was here years ago. Good service. Many British people visit this pub. Good.

In the heart of tourist central, a good place to hide from the others. The De Garre Tripe is always worth sampling, especially in that gorgeous, heavy, snifter-type glass. Great selection includes Pannepot and other gems. Always friendly service.

A good bar with some very good beers. Only 4 beers on draft but 2 of them are excelent. The tripple the Garra and Gulden Draak. Classic music and every day the Bolero of Ravel for closing time

A nice place, hidden down an alley in Bruges. It looks expensive but a bit worn. I would call it character. Service was friendly. The selection is adequate but not impressive, but the house beer brewed by Steenberge is good. Not many tourists at all, surprising considering the location and the horse carriage drivers point this out to tourists. Go for the house beer at least.

Was there around aug/sept 2006. Lucky me I had put that place on my hit-list cause I would never have found it. It’s right in the Brugge touristy area but hard to find nonetheless. A small sign next to a narrow passage leading to an old house. Very nice settings. I was there early in the after-noon, the place was almost empty and I could hear to old wood crack under my feet. Feels like this old house will collapse anytime, I like it. Not very big, can sit about 25 people on each of the two floors. Beer list is nothing to brag about. A few hundred bottles that you can easily find in other pubs. No vintage/rare stuff except for their house beer the “Tripel de la Garre”. It is brewed by Van Steenberge exclusively for this pub. Waitress refused to tell me who brewed the beer, “it is a secret” she said!!! A nice classic but very strong tripel worth ordering. Each beer was served to me with a little plate of cheese. I don’t think they serve food but I may be wrong. Classical music when I was there! A bit unusual for a pub. I really enjoyed this crampy old house with its mellow atmosphere.

It is some years ago when I was in the Staminee de Garre. At that time I was not a beer rater but only a beer lover. We had some special beers there and supprise all the beers where compagnied with some cheese. Also the announcement that there would be only 2 strong beers whould be served per person was very supprising and we agreed with it. Beer is to enjoy and not to get drunk.

Easy to find if you have Tim Webb’s guide. Loved this place. Packed with locals. Sat upstairs, lots of windows, laid back atmosphere. Professional but slow service. Very good selection, house tripel is very good. Very cool, laid-back cafe in Bruges with selection any beer afficionado can appreciate.

This place is almost impossible to find, unless you know about it. Cramped and smoky downstairs, roomier and non-smoking upstairs (well, the smoke rises up, so it’s not really that smoke-free). The house tripel is very nice and creamy, and comes in a pretty glass. The list stretches well for spending the whole day there, but there are no rarities or vintages. For me it was a place to sample the house tripel and to move on.

Small place down an ally that is easy to overlook. Small room with an upstairs. Good selection, classic music and snacks. Odd that a family with two young children came if for a hot chocolate. Otherwise, everyone was drinking beer, and this around midday on a Tuesday. I’d do the same if I lived in Brugge.
