2014.06 - bezoek met de Gentse Biervereniging - ietwat oubollig cafť, zeer uitgebreide bierkaart, klassieke muziek op de achtergrond zorgt mee voor de relaxte sfeer.

Great place right off the main street, with a fairly extensive bottle selection, though you will not find anything crazy rare here. Itís a small little place and seemed to be frequented mostly by tourists. Definitely worth a stop when in town, but I preferred Cafe Rose Red.

Visited during our trip to Brugge. Stopped in early evening after our visit around the city. Small bar with a typical local European bar character. Not a ton of seating but able to find two seats during our visit. They had about 10 beers on tap which were all Belgians with a decent beer selection but primarily dominated but just Belgian favorites. The service was exceptional and prices were reasonable. Its a cash only place for those visiting in the future. They did have some cheese and meat plates that many were enjoying but didnít rate since we didnít indulge ourselves during our visit. Overall, nice Belgian bar in the heart of Brugge. A must stop for the beer nerd and those who love to find more local Belgian beers not seen outside of Belgium. Recommended upon any visit to Brugge.

Located in a non-descript yet beautiful alley in Bruges, this establishment seemed like a little bar that could have existed in or near this form at least a hundred years ago. They had a wonderful beer list and an expansive selection of glassware to serve them in. I grabbed a small table and people watched. It seemed as if most of the people here were tourists but there were a few groups of locals at the bar seeming to enjoy themselves. Really enjoyed this place and it seemed to fit in with the whole Bruges aesthetic.

Great place with a big selection of bottles. Good menu quite limited. Grata atmosphere.

An excellent beer bar not far from Grote Markt, usually crowded but still with a very good service (especially for Belgium) and an excellent beer menu. They even sport a shrine to the late and great Michael "I donít sing, I donít dance and I donít drink Pepsi" Jackson, who visited the bar years ago.

Echt een vlaams kroegetje, met een leuk assortiment en 6 verrassende bieren op de tap. Alleen de klassieke muziek is jammer.

Visited on a Sunday around 5 p.m. It was almost full, but we were lucky and were able to sit. Small and a bit loud, but beautiful and cosy. There was a bunch of tourists, but also a few locals. Service was good and rather quick. There was 6 beers on tap including the Oude Lambik from Timmermans. The bottle selection is large, but not really impressive because itís mostly the belgian classics. Prices are a tad high for Belgium, but still reasonable. Itís not a restaurant and thereís only bar snacks. We had a croque-monsieur, but as expected is wasnít worth the 6.5 euros price tag. This place doesnít belong in RateBeer top-50 places and itís no even a close class (at least itís not anymore). The selection isnít world-class; thereís only a few things you canít find in a decent bottle shop. This place seems symptomatic of a part of the Belgium beer world that has not evolved in a while. They will need to wake up if they still want to be relevant to the beer world outside of being pionners a while ago. Otherwise, the only crowd left will be the tourists. Donít take me wrong, itís still a very good place, but Iím hoping for a lot more from a top-50 place in the world.

One of the better places iíve been to till now. The looks you hate or love... The prices are ok, but when you spill beer on a costumer, you can at least offer a free drink! That really cost soms points.
