12 reviews for Gomer’s Lees Summit- Fine Beer, Wines and Spirits
| curly (18), Fort Collins, Colorado | | February 12, 2010 The absolute best beer store I have been in to date. The only way it could be better is if you could break all the six packs, but they do have a limited selection of mix 6. I would have easily spent 500 dollars if I had it. The staff was friendly and even let me log in to Ratebeer on their computer so I could buy the best beers in KC, thanks again for that, oh by the way will you log me out if you didn’t already. I am still in awe of the selection they had even though it looked medium small initially, they have a lot of hard to find imports and an abundance of Bell’s and Boulevard of course. | | foppa78 (12), Lees Summit, Missouri | | December 10, 2009 Sure Lucas is huge and impressive but Gomers in Lees Summit is the place to go. They have a very large selection with some nice hard to find beers. They do a great job of bringing in the new stuff and all of the seasonals. The build your own 6 pack is handy and the new selection of single bottles is very nice so that you don’t have to purchase some of the expensive 6 packs to try a new beer. The beer staff is quite knowledgeable and can help you with anything you need. Free beer tastings every Thursday night are great. My only complaint is that I think they are a little higher in price than their competition and even higher than other Gomers locations. I wouldn’t let that stop you from going to the best place in KC to buy beer though. | shaunhennessy (1), Lee’s Summit, does not count - explanation | | November 5, 2009 Knowledgeable, dedicated staff go out of their way to find the best beer selection in Kansas City. However, the customers of this store do as much for the beer selection as the staff. Thursday night, beer tasting night from 5 to 8 draws in some of the most dedicated craft beer drinkers and home brewers in the area. Many times customers will bring in either home brews or brews otherwise not able in Missouri that both helps to excite the general beer crowd and challenge the staff and distributors to keep bringing in beer from across the states. Please, join our community on Thursdays and help to enrich the Gomers Beer Experience. | mbsmith (1), Missouri does not count - explanation | | August 24, 2009 This place keeps getting better. Best beer store in the KC area. Great selection of domestic and import craft beers (of all styles) with some hard to find stuff that i’m not going to name so i have longer to get it for myself. Beer manager is very knowledgeable and keeps on top of the latest releases. He’s also doing all he can to get everything that makes it to St. Louis across the state to KC. Competitive prices and an add’l 5% off if you get a Gomer’s card. Yes, it’s worth the drive to Lee’s Summit! My commute takes me near most of the major beer stores in the area but i’ve basically stopped shopping elsewhere. There’s enough here to keep me busy. | | Pawola22 (13), Kansas City, Missouri | | August 1, 2009 Others have said this, but I always thought Lukas was the place to go...until I came here. It is rather cozy, but they have a vast amount of hard to find beer. Talked with the beer manager quickly and he definitely knows what he’s doing and is very passionate about it. Very friendly, knowledgable staff that won’t hassle you while you roam. Lukas may have more in quantity (not by much, actually), but this Gomer’s has hands down the better quality beer. Not the best pick your own 6 pack selection, but it seems as if they are willing to work with you and take a few bottles out of the coolers to make things work. Free beer and wine tastings on Th/F too! | | bblack99 (17), Kansas City, Missouri | | July 31, 2009 I once said that Lukas was the place to go in KC for a rare beer. I’m changing my tune on that now that I’ve been to Gomer’s in Lee’s Summit. Between the de Struise, Olfabrikken, tons of Mikkeller, and other sneaky imports, Gomer’s is right up there with Lukas and has a much more cozy atmosphere. I also had a chance to chat for ten minutes with the beer manager who really knows his stuff. Sounds like they’re working hard to get a deal with a big-time distributor to pull in even more great hard-to-find brews!
This Gomer’s may not have the widest selection of beer in town, but they surely have the highest-quality one! | | theisti (121), Leawood, Kansas | | July 24, 2009 [ Updated July 28, 2009 ] I had been meaning to visit this place for the past three years, but finally had a chance after a breakfast meeting today. I had heard this was a good bottle shop, but I was truly amazed at the beers they had in stock. By far the widest Mikkeller selection in town, as well as a bunch of other beers I have only seen here. The way the beer is arranged is a table of feature beers front in center, a smallish mix a six next to that, and a bunch of coolers (probably 5-6 devoted to craft) behind that. Also, in the corner is a very good selection of import beers. Again, I saw several beers here I have not seen elsewhere in KC. The beer manager was not in when I was there, but the GM was, and she was very friendly and helpful. I definitely need to put this place in my general rotation. Really the only disadvantage it has for me is the limited mix a six selection, and the distance from my house. The only knock I have against the place is that the Adnams SSB was 5 years past its best before date. Granted, I should have noticed before I got home, but that’s pretty old to have on the shelf. | | topherh (14), Kearney, Missouri | | July 21, 2009 [ Updated November 3, 2009 ] The selection of beers here has greatly improved over the last year. Many hard to find bottles and great service to go along with it. If its available in the area and you don’t see it just ask. Best selection in the area of beers available in the state. Their beer guy is awesome will tell you what is new and fresh. Just tell him what you’re looking for. | | dwaggs2 (11), Lee’s Summit, Missouri | | May 1, 2009 [ Updated March 19, 2010 ] Great selection of hard to find beers and singles. Great service. People know there beer. They have beer tasting every friday. Great prices and friendly service. | | aaronphazel (10), Missouri | | January 24, 2009 [ Updated October 3, 2009 ] Best beer selection in Kansas City area. Tons of hard to find imports. Great selection of 22oz. bottles and micro brews galore. |
