My last stop in Chicago. Great selection of drafts, both local and import. Bottle list was pretty nice as well. Serivce was terrific, really friendly bartender who chatted to me about all the different drafts and let me taste a bunch fo them. Food was really tasty (avocado/chedder quesidilla). Overall a really nice experience.

Stopped in here for the Hipster Olympics or whatever they called the theme the Friday before Dark Lord Day. They put a bunch of cool stuff on tap, lots of Belgians I haven’t seen Stateside before. The place is a shotgun-style bar near DePaul. Parking is a challenge. The service is surly and spotty. The prices are on the high side but it’s Chicago and they aren’t serving Bud Platinum. I didn’t try the food. Cool atmosphere. Dark paint, skulls. It’s exactly what I thought it would be.

A typical chicago bar, and I mean that in a good way. The tap list was solid and so was the bottle list. Didn’t have the food so I can’t comment on that. The service was nit overly friendly, but at the same time they were attentive. Cool bar, glad I went.

A nice gritty bar with a solid selection of local and other craft beer. Recommended but not life changing.

Dirty and dingy, local option is a fun dive bar that happens to have killer taps and an excellent, fairly priced bottle list. An oddity of this experience was that the staff turned the heavy metal tunage way past eleven as early as quarter to midnight. My long-not-seen pal and myself each lost our voices trying to converse. We didn’t mind, but this just as warning to those that may.

Fantastic place that looks like a dive from the street. They have a large selection of beer and excellent food. My only complaint is that the beer is on the pricey side, but we get what we pay for, right?

This place has a great beer list. And if you want to see what the definition of a beer dork is, come in in the afternoon and observe the manager and/or beer director (didn’t know who it was) doing inventory and checking social media outlets promoting his bar. This place is really, really great when it comes to a beer destination. I really didn’t like their food, and it was pretty generic, but maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. Gotta shout out to the bathroom. WOAH. **After recent visits, I must lower my service rating. I have a baby face, and even though I’m several years older than drinking age, I look 19. With that, I always have my proper ID, the bartender looked it over, and I was served. The rest of the day I was treated like a lost DePaul student. I was informed that one of the beers was "too dark for my taste". After insisting that, yes, I wanted the ’dark’ beer, it was poured for me. You guys need to wake up and smell the hops. Beer knowledge is no longer preceded by obesity and beards. There’s too many good beer places out there to have the crappy attitude.

Stepped in when I had some time to myself visiting Chicago last week and this place was deservedly off the hook in so many ways. However, it was undoubtedly one of the more harder bars to find; even with all the directions from passersby I didn’t get any closer until I decided to play favorites and not to listen to every geographic instruction that I had been told since stepping off the Red Line. The only way I knew the building was indeed the one I had been looking for, was because its fluorescent lights reflected off the windows off a bricked apartment across the avenue. There was no sight, just, as I said, fluorescent lights positioned by LO’s entrance. When I walked in, the first thought that popped into my head was that it was a lot smaller than I had anticipated, but I quickly joined a lesbian couple at the bar and ordered a few beers. Thirty-four minutes after sitting down, the bartender wiped off a Local Option contract-brewed beer on their giant chalkboard, writing in its place "Dreadnaught IPA". The food wasn’t great and it seemed to be a little too expensive, even for Chicago city life, but it was decent for what it was and it had come fast and hot. My bartender on that night was a 40ish heavily-tatted woman who didn’t yell nor whisper. In my opinion, she had the perfect sound power for a bartender and I know there are plenty who will agree with me. She was patient, helpful and friendly. The bathrooms were a trip, or at least the guys’ were: no mirror, one swing-door stall and the whole room was illuminated by ultraviolet lights which amused the hell out of me. I would’ve liked there to be a mirror, but you can’t always get everything that you want. Awesome bar. I expect to be back!

Looks like a biker bar from the outside. Inside, a bunch of beer geeks drinking great stuff. Bartenders and servers really know their stuff. I don’t have a lot of experience with Chicago bars, but they had beer here I’ve never even heard of, along with some of their own stuff. More expensive than what I’m used to, but a pretty good deal for big city stuff. Overall, great! I can’t wait to come back.

Ambiance was cool, somewhat of a biker/metal theme, but nothing off putting. Service was pretty solid, with bar tenders who like to talk about beer and are always quick to fill up your glass. Selection was pretty great, lots of Belgian stuff I havent seen anywhere else, and some other one off american stuff, and a great bottle list too. Did not eat here. Overall, a place that should be seeked out when in Chicago.
