24 reviews for Heritage Liquor
Geletka (3), Greenville, North Carolina does not count - explanation | | August 19, 2010 While I realize that there are many specialty beer stores out there in the world, the number that I have been to have paled in comparison to Heritage in every way. Each time a receive a "tip" from a fellow beer enthusiast regarding a store to check out, I am inevitably let down, because of the standard set by Heritage. Everyone who has been to Heritage understands the service is unmatched, but the real gem for me is the right-hand side of the last aisle. I am, of course, referring to their selection of Belgian beers. While Chimay is making its way into nicer grocery store selections, Heritage carries all seven Trappist brewery offerings, as well as many non-Trappist abbey-styles. Cantillion is not even on the map for most beer places, and Heritage must have at least four to choose from. Don’t be fooled by the macro neon signs out front--we all know people can’t make a living on craft brew sales. | conciergeman (2), Minnesota does not count - explanation | | July 16, 2010 Love this place! Selection is choice, tasting room is great, and the service is amazing. First time I walked into this store, I was greeted, and asked if I was looking for anything specific. I honestly don’t remember what I said, but I do remember how we spent the next 15 minutes walking around the store talking about numerous beers, styles, etc. I was taken down into the storage and tasting rooms, practically a personal tour complete with a tasting of some delicious brews that was just finishing up. When it comes to good beer, I honestly cant see myself going anywhere else. | happilysurly (2), Minnesota does not count - explanation | | February 21, 2010 This place rocks. They have their finger on the pulse, always know what’s coming out and if they’ll be getting it. I’ve yet to go in there without purchasing something and I know that if there’s a new beer coming out in mn, they’ll get it. | Jewsh666 (1), Moundsview, Minnesota does not count - explanation | | September 9, 2009 My favorite Liquor store in town by far! Ed and Joe know their beer, and are pleased to teach you and help find the perfect beer for " You" | | tennisjoel (32), Rochester, Minnesota | | June 20, 2009 One of the top tier beer stores in the twin cities. Joe and Ed make this place special. I came after a tennis match for a Founders tasting. Really nice guys (ratebeer members), plus a good selection. Small but the selection is quality! | | nbutler11 (101), Phoenix, Arizona | | January 4, 2009 A little out of the way, but well worth the trek. Ed is the man. Spent about 30 minutes talking with him and he certainly hooked it up. The regional selections and imports are impressive. This place had everything on my shopping list, so there was no need to stop anywhere else. A must visit when in the area. | Oldbeer (2), St. Paul, Minnesota does not count - explanation | | December 16, 2008 [ Updated February 12, 2010 ] its too bad that I cant use an adjective filled rating about how frickin stupendous this store is.Fresh beer, great selection of singles and BEER GEEK CHRISTMAS (five reviews have been rejected for using punctuation so lets try this) | lufootball (1), Coon Rapids, Minnesota does not count - explanation | | December 12, 2008 Ill start out with my only complaint - this place should be closer to home. Unfortunately, its still a destination, but that hasnt deterred me. Joe and Eddie are great, and they really know their beer. Ive been here a number of times, and theyre quick to offer new recommendations and suggestions. They also do a great job of mixing things up and getting some new and hard-to-find beers that I havent seen elsewhere. Wonderful selection -from domestic crafts to a slew of imports- and reasonable prices.
I just stopped in yesterday for their Beer Geek Christmas and was even treated to a number of beer samples from the private cellar -Tyranena BGW 06 Spank me Baby Barrell Aged and their Imperial Pumpkin. Every time I walk in, I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. Generally, Joe or Ed will start off by saying, Waitll you see what I just got in... or You gotta check this out... I know I just mentioned this, but these guys really know their stuff, and the customer service couldnt be better.
Cheers to Heritage L | | Beerking721 (10), , Minnesota | | November 30, 2008 From my visit last summer...
A small, older store next to a bakery, Heritage is located in a sleepy area of Maplewood that I didn’t know existed. Upon facing the store, I was met with a number of beer ads on their outside windows advertising macro specials. Entering brought me into what I would describe as a typical "neighborhood" liquor store with spirits and wines in the front half and beer towards the rear.
The beer selection was good with the most notable part being a nice six pack option that gives a 10% discount. Several reach-in / wall coolers provide additional selections (crafts/macros) behind the standard shelving.
Service was fairly strong - meaning that I wanted to take some time to look but the owner and his dad kept talking to me while I was trying to shop. Not the hugest of problems (considering the lack of attention from some of the other stores I’ve visited), but it took away from my ability to really see the beers and make a comfortable purchase | | KAF (69), Coralville, Iowa | | October 10, 2008 By far one of the best shops in the MN. The service is great from the manager to the owner. The staff knows its stuff about beer and is more then willing to help out with whatever you need. Great selection of a wide varieties of beer and fairly priced. The downstairs sets this store apart with a great and relaxing area to drink and hang out. A must stop if you’re in the Cities. |
