Located about an hour southwest of London, Ontario, in the small farm town of Alvinston, lies the Munro Meadery. A shop located in a conspicuous red barn looking building that has lots of character. 7 meads are normally available and they are doing a buckwheat mead currently that is supposed to be even sweeter than the Sweet Mead. You can sample all of the meads before you buy, and they also have lots of neat honey products, all made on site. Honey butter, flavoured honey butter (cinnamon is damn good), also flavoured honey and pollen, along with mead flavoured jams, are just some of the many in a diverse product line. You can get a tour if you call ahead, and there is an encased active bee hive that you can watch while in the shop. Service is certainly above average and very friendly. I got to try all the meads, and all of the flavoured honey before buying. Even though this is located in Ontario’s deep south, I’d suggest a visit is worth while to pick up some award winning, traditional meads.
