Clear medium to light dark brown color with a average, creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, moderate hoppy, grass. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090410]

Apr 5, 2009 Cask (Kitty’s, Helsinki) - as Westgate Hare Raiser.
Have Greene King realised that their very name is a negative selling point, and they are now trying alternatives such as "Westgate" in order to hide? Rich brown, tight head. Sweet cakey and tobaccoey aroma, not quite stretching to tea. Simple sweet taste, bready, and a bit mushroomy. Aroma gains a bit of fish and sulphur. Some caramel body, but dull, dull, dull. Quite drinkable though. Has GK’s fingerprint clearly on it.

Mar 24, 2009 (Pint at the Waterfront, Diss) Guest ale looked copper brown with a small white head. Not too impressive. Aroma was minimal but could make out some nice toffee elements mixed with very bright, fresh citrus hops. Taste was a biscuity sweet malt initially, very nice with a little bitter hop coming in and giving it a dry finish. Tastes brilliant actually for a regular bitter. Good carbonation too - subtle but working very well.
However, as I drunk it lost much of it’s flavour, becoming just one of those dull, slighty hopped bitters that are all too common. Didn’t work very well with the food either (scampi and chips) which was a suprise as I thought the citrus hops would complement it very well. Lovely to begin with, but ended a disappointment.

Mar 18, 2009 Cask at The Sad Hog Tavern, bobbing novelty hare pumpclip and all. Clear chestnut densely collared with white. Nose watery raisin and caramel. Completely still in the mouth with hints of cask, dried fruit, caramel, clear bottled/pasteurised sweet potato mush and occasional ginger. Halloween already? Clean and bready with clinging honey on white toast afters. Not unpleasant.
