Bottle that was in my cellar for years by accident. 276 bottles only. Dark amber color. Red and confit fruit in the vinous aroma. Full bodied.Thick, vinous, sourish flavor with red fruit, vinous notes, apricot, oak.. Flavors are subtle. The balance is great. Top class!

VJ1 bottle from Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville. 6500th rating! Pours a hazy dark reddish brown with floating particles. Large fizzy tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of caramel, wood, citrus, berries, grapes, mild earth, light tartness. The taste is earth, grapes, caramel, yeast, citrus, light tartness. Medium bodied, faint heat, good balance. Nice beer.

375mL VJ2 thanks to BrainLayer. Typical pour from this series: hazy strawberry with tepid bubbles. No head formation. Nose is quite nice: bourbon barrel, lavender, red wine barrel funk, fruit leather, sugary liquor, noticeable booze. Taste is a bit thinner, wood tannins, neutral vinous palate albeit slightly watery. Palate is lacking. Not really sour or even tart. Body is sort of voided.

Amber color. The aroma has balsamic vinegar and some red wine. High abv, which also comes through in the aroma. Flavor is sour and has an underlying wine and berry quality. Low carbonation. Full flavored and great palate. An excellent beer.

Bottle. Pour is pretty much still copper with a slight cloudiness. Aroma is very funky with hints of barnyard, funk, and hay. Smells very smooth and rich. Flavor is quite a bit different. Extremely woody with notes of bitterness, light funk, and faint cherry. This is some intense stuff. Glad to try it, but only need it once.

375ml bottle (VJ1). Hand bottled April 09, Brewed in 2008. Poured a hazy amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of yeast, wood, some lighter grapes, and some funk. Tastes of grapes / vinous (lots more than the aromas), citrus, wood, and funk. Lively body. Side x side with the 2009 vintage which was flatter, tarter and more alcohol.

RBESG 2010, magnum bottle
Explosive bottle quite gushing; cloudy amber color; nice creamy head. There is the classic BFM sour aroma, but more delicate than usual, with wood, lightly vinous, very elegant. The body strength is medium, also because of the high carbonation; malt flavor, with mild sourness and wine character, very well balanced, with also a light residual sweetness. The final is woody. This version is sublime, elegant, very well balanced.

375ml bottle thanks to Delerium on BA. Pours cloudy reddish-amber with a lasting 1.5-finger off-white head and decent lacing. The aroma is rather funky with caramel apple notes, pretty nice. Good flavor, once again caramel apple, funky but only mildly sour, a little sweet even. White wine and funky cheese notes as well, with a decent oaky presence. Medium-bodied with mild acidity and soft carbonation. A tasty and complex beer overall, this Good Dog Yellow Wine is.

In short: A woody, dry, fruity, acidic and slightly funky ale. A fun beer

The look: Cloudy dark dirty orange body topped by a small beige head
In long: Strong nose has typical Flemish Sour characteristics (oaky sourness and all) as well as horse blanket. Strangely the taste does not match the aroma. Not very intense at all. Dry wood, dried citrus fruits, dried apples, a bit of leather and grapefruits (almost bretty), white grapes, red grapes, dust, horse blanket. Mild-medium acidity level, very low sourness. Well carbonated. The beer is smooth enough (relative to the style) to be almost sessionnable. Very different from its Trousseau Barrel sister beer. Not bad but a bit pricey for what it is. If only I could have back all the money I have spent on beer so far. If only. I would have so much more money to spend on beer.

Bottle marked VJ1 bottle April 2009, shared with steptin at Max’s. Amber color, small off white head. Aroma of port wine, Christmas spice, in a combination that works nicely. Taste has slightly sour peach, white wine, earth. Interesting stuff, definitely worth seeking out.
