Can to snifter (shared with the Mrs; thanks newcigarz). Looks good; a semi-transparent mahogany with ample foamy light caramel head. Smells of dark malt, dark chocolate, coffee, and vanilla. Tastes like it smells with a solid but quite roasty mouthfeel. Still, enjoyable.

Can. Pours dark brown, hint of red, and had a small tan head. Aroma of coffee, espresso, and chocolate. Taste is toasted nuts, coffee, chocolate, and vanilla hints. This kind of reminded me of an iced mocha coffee. Very tasty beer and I enjoyed this one.

Can shared supperhopped. Pours a hazy brown with beige head. Taste and aroma of nuts, toffee, roasted malts.

Poured from can to glass. Opaque hue with fizzy brown head that settled into a lingering ring. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, roast, vanilla, toffee, tin. Mouthfeel is nice with a full body and zesty carbonation. Taste is dry sweetness followed by an astringent bitterness in the following and finishing with a slight metallic zing. Overall this is a nice brew but I can’t get over the tin/metallic aspect.

Can from recent Secret Santa. Pours clear brown with a tan head. Nose has freshly ground coffee, vanilla and some caramel. Taste has again loads of coffee, vanilla sweetness, some malts and light cocoa.

Aroma was pretty much what I expected but I kept smelling hints of coconut , but mostly lots of coffee. Appearance was brown, about 30 SRM, off white head, not too overwhelming, and left some minor lacing. I wasn’t too crazy about the taste. It tasted more like an Italian style espresso than a Cuban coffee...I feel like this needed to be a tad bit sweeter, and overall I enjoyed the Maduro much more. Overall, nice try but I’m not gonna be writing poems about this one.

12 oz Can. Tasted on 7/14/14. Beer from Cigar City Brewery. The beer pours to a deep brown color with a medium off white head. The aroma has a strong coffee/ espresso & the taste is also upfront with a lot of espresso. The finish is pretty bitter & the espresso lingers. Overall a very different flavor for a brown ale. Worth a try. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Growler from ABC Thomasville Road: I have had this beer enough to dream of it. Rich roast flavor hits the nose with an equally roasted malt that’s not overwhelming and not to be ignored. Deep brown color backed by mocha head. A complex beer for a simple formula: how’s about add espresso to a brown ale. Roast nut touch of chocolate coffee espresso x3 malt of light variety espresso This is nearly perfect in every aspect. Well done and time for another pouring.
