Commercial Description:
Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore...
Up until the 1940's, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created.
Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

Appearance: deep, dark brown body, bordering on purple, with a large, blooming, bubbling head of foam. Aroma: most impressive: wide, vast, brimming with fruitiness, contains the aspects of a good Bavarian weizen, then widened, and filled up with alcohol and medicine. Fruity, yet stinging...sweet, delicious, spicy, tantalizing... Taste...fantastic texture, floods the mouth with flavor, excellent weizen graininess, raisiny, figgy fruitiness, doubled up with richness...each gulp brings waves of sensation...I find myself liking this more as I go...it’s punishing, though, flavorful, yet stinging and slaying, a serious threat to sobriety... a bold attack on the senses...the perfect nightcap...just the thing to knock me out and send me to Slumberland.

Weizeneisbock? I’m intrigued. Bottle, #049139. Opaque brown, pink-ruby under light, frothy lacy tan head. Smells sweet with Dunkelweizen notes (wheat, yeast, banana, sweet dark malt, orange peels, citrus), caramel, bock grape, and alcohol (more like orange schnaps). Tastes strongly alcoholic, extremely spicy, with even some coriander and orange peels, before the vinous bock flavors take over, backed by brown sugar. Powerful brew, strong flavors with a teeth-jarring 12% kick - quite a combination. I like this more than the original Aventinus; the alcohol burn balances out the overabundant sweetness. Excellent dessert beer.

Almost no head but it pours up a nice darkgolden brown. A caramelly raisin flavor that is a sweet hot from the alcohol. A good smooth even palate. The temperature that you choose to drink this beer at really makes a difference as it warms it comes alive.
