Draught in the Biergarten. Golden, strong carbonation, lacing creamy white head. Aroma nice bittersweet maltiness, a little chalkiness and grass, very natural, interesting. Taste is bitter, hoppy, a bit of a chalky funk. Wonderful Kellerbier, I don’t care if MJ calls it a Helles. There’s really an elegant hoppy bitterness, slightly herby, earthy. Dry, long finish, light whisper of sweetness from the malt, very well balanced. Simple but really, really nice.

Tap@Brewpub. What a wonderful relief after a couple of boring Franconian lagers. Nice dark golden, almost amber color. Great malts but not too much, wonderful bitterness and hoppy notes.

draft at greifenklau in bamberg. called braun bier or kellerbier or something but i’m pretty sure it’s this one, which might be more correctly defined as a heller bock or a keller heller bock helles or something. dark orange/copper/brass/bronze colored body - pick a color. dense, lasting off-white head. full, chewy, frothy, resinous nuts, wet, smacking, crisp and full-bodied vienna and honey-flavored malt. a little bit of burnt/caramelized orange rind. very bright finish. wonderful beer.

I think this one was from a bottle. Color was a clear dark gold. Aroma was meaty, bready with vegetable and some earthy hops. Flavor was much better than the aroma. A good balance; bready and fruity, with yeast notes and an earthy finish. Very nice for the style, well the flavor at least.

Dark golden colored. Buttery aroma with nice fruity tones, grass and some Danish vegetably yeastiness also here, though no yeast in glass... Medium bodied. Flavor is more hopped with some rubbery, even burnt note, still I like this. Aftertaste is buttery still with drying hops.

Draught@brewpub (in stein). Deep orangeish golden colour with mediumsized white head. Aroma is sweet malts, some grassy hops as well as some mild fruity notes. Flavour is quite much the same with some slight toffeeish/diacetylic notes.

In krug, has lasting white cap. The aroma is Franconian big worty malts and some sawdust and damp wood. Flavors strike a nice sweet-hop balance. Good quaffable stuff. Unfortunately tends to be variable. Can be yeasty, damp wood and slightly sour. At times it shines, at times it does not.

Draught at the brewpub. Clear light amber colour. Nice stable lacy white head. The flavour starts off clean, but a bit thin. Has a little chalk to begin with, that is nice enough. Slightly watery finish. Clean, but not so interesting.
