Aroma is chocolate, some lesser roasty and coffee notes. Flavor is fairly sweet chocolate with astringency and alcohol burn. Not enjoyable at all. Shag (1927), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 30, 2004 This was a good idea to mix these two beers, it works out very well. A dark black apperance with a moderate head. A roasted malt flavor with some cherries and raisins showing through. I also taste some herbs in there. It has a pronounced alcohol kick that shows through. Screw a Guinness/Bass Black and Tan, this is much better! lithy (1925), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 12, 2007 Updated: Jun 4, 2007Almost opaque, dark brown with medium-large tan head that tries to last. Aroma is sweet corn, nuts, raisins, malt and slight hint of pepper. Taste is kind of mild, pretty well balanced with some dark fruit and tingly hop. Aftertaste shows more appearance of the dry stout-coffee flavors. Not great, but this beer is better than it sounds, and is a pretty good buy at $2.99 per 22 oz. bottle. Also gotta appreciate the attempt to do the porter in the historical style of the "two threads". DrnkMcDermott (1905), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 10, 2005 22 oz. bottle, enjoyed 10/5/2005 while biting my nails watching the White Sox cling to a 5-4 lead. Pours nutty brown with a big frothy head. Smell is nice and malty, though not enough to give a hint of its intentions. But the taste really is something different. I get just a hint of smoke and plum, maybe even pipe tobacco floating above a sea of English ale and porter malt. Then the comfy roasties of a dry stout come to the fore. Ends up with a dense feel that gives an impression of barrel-aging. As nice a mix of two great tastes as Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.
