’09 notes Draft @ CCB release party. Bolita base. aroma of coffee, espresso, light coconut and some cacao/chocolate. taste, coffee espresso, coconut flakes add a nice silky palate with some nutty undertones, medium carbonation with the coconut becoming more present as the beer warmed up. Just like the Maduro version, the coffee espresso adds a nice coffee blend without giving the bitterness of regular coffee. Highly drinkable, this one is sure to drive you Loco. Smooth palate and gets better as you let it warm up a bit. Overall, I found this beer to be more complex than the regular coconut.

In short: A nutty, chocolaty, fudgy, coconutty, whateverty brown ale. Nice extravagant beer.
How: Fresh growler 32oz. Tasting session with Montreal crew.
The look: Dark brown body topped by a small beige head
In long: Original nose that blends toasted nuts, coconut, cocoa and banana bread. Taste has a lot of black chocolate, burnt caramel, nutty fudge, crunchy burnt brown sugar, some black coffee. All along I couldn’t help but to think I was drinking a Queen Elisabeth cake with extra cocoa. Very sweet but with so much stuff thrown at my taste buds the beer appeared quite drinkable. Overall it is a fun beer. That was another beer at another tasting session. I know I should go less often to tasting sessions and more often to the gym. But my abs are still hurting from the last time I laughed at myself for thinking about doing sit-ups.

Tap at BT. Pours a deep dark woody brown with a thick lasting frothy brown head. Aroma is more blueberry (reminder from the previous beer), choclate candies, cocoa, earth, toast, nuts, smoke burnt toast, sweet. Flavor is earthy spicy cocoa nibs, cocoa powder hot chocolate mix, sweet tootsie roll, mineral, chalk and earth in the end. Smooth and pretty good overall.

1 quart growler thankt to jcwattsrugger.
Appearance : Dark brown with a small head.
Aroma : Light banana with some spices. Rich gently overcooked caramel notes. Nice complexity. Great sweetness.
Taste : Sharp roastyness. Light coconut and overcooked caramel. Awesome finish.
Overall : Quite complex but very subtle. I have a hard time putting words on what I smelled and tasted but there was a lot going on. Very well balanced. I liked the finish a lot. It had big notes of burnt caramel and brown sugar. Quite impressive. Very drinkable. I liked it more and more as I was sipping my glass. For the record, the growler did leak a little bit on the way here but it looks like the beer didn’t suffered much from it. Thanks John !

Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture légèrement vineuse. Moyenne effervescence en bouche. Présence de caramel arrière goût. (Rating #3379)

Growler, merci beaucoup Fred!

Tap at Blind Tiger. Brown with a bit of haze. Aromas are of cocoa, coffee, and a bit of vanilla. Fairly sweet with a faint bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied.
