Great Taste, 2009. This was particularly creamy, although not as viscous as Barley John’s Triple Oat stout in the cask tent. I was pleased to see this under Town Hall’s tent, as it was noticeably absent from the cask tent. Notes of cream, toffee, brown sugar, and lightly roasted coffee lead into milk chocolate. Nicely rounded, and it stood out from the other stouts of the day.

poured at winterfest 2010. dark black with nice brown head. mouthfeel is velvety smooth and fairly thick. nose is dark roast and fig, toffee and a bit of burnt wood. taste is warming and dark chocolate with fig and raisen. very similar to surly darkness, but less hoppy. an extremely good imperial stout.

Pours oily black with dark brown head, nose is explosive with chocolate and coffee with toffee notes. Taste is full of bitter chocolate and coffee and leads into a wonderful blend of dark fruit, and the palate is thick and creamy. Amazing imperial stout, how others should be!

GTMW. Very fine brew indeed. Full body with rich chocolate and sweet malt characters balanced with a nice roasty background. Very complex and nice.

Sampled @ GTMW ’09 This is a VERY late and after the fact ratting, but I have to put this on the list. It was one of the tops of the day. Tast and aroma is everything I love in a good brew. Sweet chotolate, milk, vanilla, raisin and bourbon. Everything mixed well and every bit of it was fantastic. I only hope to get some more of this sometime sooner than later.

On tap at GTMW. Poured deep brown with a huge, well-retained cap of tan head. The aroma opened with bread and cereal-y notes that were promptly joined by Belgian chocolates.. smoky accents surrounded, and came across as if they smoked something that was sweet to begin with. The flavor had darker chocolates all over with a nice moderate roast to ‘em.. cereal and toasted bready malts helped support.. dry cedary smokage surrounded along with vanilla.. sweet and overall very chocolatey. Heavier-bodied with a thick feel on the palate.. the smoky accents complemented the sweetness very well. I dug this one.

GTMW 2009: Basically opaque with a creamy beige head and good lace. The aroma has notes of meaty smoke, milk chocolate, toasted and charred malts, and a hint of raisin and bourbon. The taste is sweet malts supported by twangy dark fruits, bitter black malt, coffee, liquorice and oak. The mouth feel is lush and creamy but is a tad ashy towards the finish. Overall it is quite yummy and honestly should be listed as an Imperial Stout aka "Imperialized or Double" Sweet Stout.

(Draught) Pours an opaque black body with a thick tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted grain, vanilla, banana, and light anise. Flavor of chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla ice cream, caramel, and toasted coconut with moderate bitterness in the finish. A yummy dessert in a glass.
