Commercial Description:
Hop God is a beautiful golden crossbreed of a Belgian Tripel and a West Coast IPA. Combining the best attributes of each style in a remarkable way, this beer explodes with spiciness, tropical fruit, and an intense citrus bitterness that will leave you begging for more! Hopped with Warrior, Chinook, Centential, and Cascade hops

Growler. Pours a gorgeous, bright gold hue with a soft, pure white head. Nose of banana and yeast with just hints of hops. Flavor is more Belgian than IPA, but there is certainly some citrusy hop bite. The commercial description is right on in that this beer "will leave you begging for more!" Really damn good, and the 9.2% is nowhere to be seen. Mouthfeel is medium-light with decent carbonation and mild warming. Great beer.

On tap at Cresent Moon in Omaha. Pours clear golden with white head. Aromas of citrus, hops, and grain. Flavors of spicey and bitter hops, banana, clove, tropical fruits and citrus. Finishes bitter with a bit of an alcohol burn. The spicyness and banana belgian flavors seem to be fighting with the hops and citrus of an IPA instead of coming together. Tough to get through an entire pint.

Orange amber color. Citrus aroma, yeasty citrus taste. Finish is grassy and citrus and lingers. Hop load is large and diverse - I taste more each sip

GTMW 2009: Golden hue with a small head but very good lace. The aroma has notes of Belgian yeast esters, toffee, wine barrels, mango, apple, piney resiny and peppery hops. The taste is acidic and spicy with a fair amount of hop play in front and upon the finish. Bready malts and an earthy Belgian yeast undertone before a chewy biscuity finish. The mouth feel is lively and sharp, works nicely within the framework of the flavors. A real nice surprise, YUMMY, Yeah for Nebraska! (This should be listed as a DIPA IMO)

GABF 2009, while waiting in the insane New Glarus line. Clear golden-orange in color with a somewhat fizzy white head. Aroma is sweet caramel malt and floral hops, good but somewhat unpronounced for an IPA that is meant to be West coast style. Flavor is sweet caramel malt and pale malt, light fruit, and citrusy/floral hops that lend more bitterness relative to aroma/flavor than a West coast style IPA should have. Just a touch of yeast present. I see this is meant to be a Belgian IPA. Think it fell a bit short on the Belgian aspects. Body and carbonation are medium.

GABF 2009. Pours clear dark yellow with a small, fizzy white head, somewhat diminishing with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cereal, grain, meal), heavy hop (flowers, grass, pine), heavy yeast (horse blanket, barnyard, earth) with notes of pear and peach. Medium bodied, gritty texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness.

Pours a deep yellow. Nose is dank hops, sticky pine, and sweet caramel. Flavor is a nice sweet caramel, resiny pine, citrus and bitter hops finish. Very good IPA.

GABF Taster glass Pours out a golden topped with a white head. Aroma of floral hops and some sweet caramell. Taste more of the caramell and bitter hops.
