Flavor is a nice balanced malt and bitter. This beer has everything that I like about beer, but for some reason I’m not crazy about it. Can’t put my finger on it..

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 11, 2010 What a fantastic beer for any season of the year. I happen to have some in the Fall, then again recently and just really, really tasty. Golden yellow body, clear with a brilliant white 1" head. Citrusy and floral in the nose, solid malt aroma...a touch earthy now. Bready malt base helps support a really nice showing of citrusy/floral malts, subtle spices with a really nice piney finish. If it were a tab bit lighter, this might pass for a top notch pale ale. philbertk (817), Seattle, Washington, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 9, 2010 Pours golden with a sudsy off-white head. The aroma has spicy, grassy and piny hop traits with mild pale malt in the back - very clean. Medium / thin body with spritzy prickly carbonation. The flavor starts with an assertive spicy hop presence with some pine and mildly toasted malt to balance everything up. The finish is a bit grassy and has grapefruit lingering along with milk caramel-like malt. Very clean and refreshing. Nice golden ale. JasonG (712), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Feb 4, 2010 bottle - Pours a crystal clear pale yellow color with smallish pure white head that leaves fairly nice lacing. Aroma has continental malts, is slightly spicey, with notes of honey and light, herbal hops. Flavor has a lightly toasted malt backbone, with subtle spice from the rye, and a faint hoppiness. Finish is lightly bitter. Palate seems a bit heavy for what the rest of the beer is. Overall this is decent, but nothing great. michael-pollack (2921), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 31, 2010 12oz. Bottle: Faint, vegetal, light vegetable, wheat, slight grain, and slight rye aroma. Poured yellow/gild in color with a medium-sized, creamy, dense, rocky white head that diminished but lasted throughout. Clear. Sparkling. Flavor is lightly bitter. Tastes of noble hops, wheat, water, slight rye, and slight grain. Light body. Thin, tingly, then slightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Noble hop and water finish. It’s like water with a little hops and rye. IlanMan (892), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jan 27, 2010 On tap at the Wooden Nickel in Appleton, WI. Pour was light golden with a fluffy white head. Aroma was of light citrus hops and a little spice. Flavor was lightly toasted malt, a medium hop character, and a citrus finish. I drank this beer thinking it was an Octoberfest style, but not that I see it is a Golden Ale, My rating has gone up. Good brew.
