Pretty sure it’s the same thing, a large bottle that says Augustijn Ale, alcohol listed at 7.5%. Pours a true gold, yellow and clear, with slightly off white bubbly head, aroma of fruits, passion fruit, apricot, banana, white grape, dryness, alcohol, belgian spices (clove). Taste is carbonated and fizzy, yeast noticeable, medium bodied, dried and spiced fruit taste with spiced hop bite, dry finish. Overall a good belgian blonde, i liiike. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 10, 2010 Smells almost sickly sweet of malt. Also very strong yeast aroma, nothing unusual just typical yeast smell, like after the primary is all done. Moderately reddish amber, dullish looking, some head, not great lacing though I don’t have the correct glass. Strong malt flavour balanced by a strong yeast flavour, again no yeast surprises. Quite sweet, but not overpowering. The yeast is the first and last thing on your palate, it never fades, untl a few seconds after your done swallowing. Its prickly with sweetness, you never really can taste the ABVs. Pretty good, a bit of a yeasty glass brew but quite satisfactory. cfrancis (447), Gloucester, Ontario, Canada

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 11, 2010 330 ml bottle. Once I popped the cap, this bottle literally erupted like no other beer I’ve ever seen. I’m taking about a vertical jet of beer that shot a good foot out of the stubby little bottle. Fortunately, I opened it in my kitchen rather than over carpet. Once the mess was cleaned up, I returned to the bottle in the sink...only about 3-4 ounces remained. The appearance is a cloudy golden straw with spotty lace and, ironically, just a wisp of a white head. The nose is of apples and pears with spicy (white pepper), yeasty esters and a touch of light apricot as well. This may not be listed as a tripel, but it smells a lot like one. Initially excessively carbonated (shocker) it purged its CO2 fairly quickly and falls a bit flat. On the light side of medium-bodied with a drying, spicy finish, the flavor follows the nose with more emphasis on the pepper/spice than the fruit notes. This is a solid beer, but this bottle has gone a bit toward the unhappy cardboard side of being oxidized. I will have to try this one again and hope that I get to enjoy more than just a third of the bottle the next time. flemmingwillum (272), Křbenhavn S, Denmark
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 6, 2010 Updated: Feb 11, 2010Bottle from Lagersalget, Grřnjordskollegiet. This one has an 8% ABV, but I am pretty sure this is the right beer, as it was just called "Augustijn" and was a blonde ale type beer.
Beer is hazy yellow with an airy white head, that last a good amount of time.
Aroma is a bit boring, but pleasant. Thoughts of summer wheat fields comes to mind, together with the aroma of indistinguishable malt sweetness. Flavor is wheat and bitter hops. Finish is alcoholic. Easily creamy beer, but somehow watery. crhensel (53), New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 24, 2010 (bottle into tulip) Pours a hazy amber with a very large rocky white head. Like most other belgians, the nose is of fruit -- banana, grape, apple as well as a hint of citrus. Very creamy in the mouth, which is pleasant and the taste is of a banana-orange with spice notes at the finish. Spice allows for a nice crisp finish. Very good beer from a Brouwerij Van Steenberge sampler!
