Bottle: Amber coloured, thin off-white, lasting head; distinctive smoky (bacon) nose with some traces of fruitiness (citrus) and also some hints of hops; initial sweetish maltiness ends in a quite complex finish: bitter, sweet, malty with some distinctive but soft traces of smoke; low carbonation; well drinkable: don’t be afraid; if the first one is too odd, try a second one.........

Deep amber color body under a decent head that shows a hint of color. Smoky bacon aroma. The smoke is just about right in the flavor and comes mostly in the finish, letting the malt come to the front at the beginning. Nicely done and this would be especially good with many foods needing a counterpoint.

Thanks to IPFreely for this one. Nose is iodine, fishy. Kind of like a single malt and smoked whitefish - smells like breakfast at my grandparents. Flavor is sweet smokey malt, a hint of fish. Well hopped. Odd but nice. A little caramel in the finish. I’d like to try more beers like this!

Medium amber color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is smoky malts and some fruitiness. The pure smoked aroma is there, but its not as noticeable as in some other Rauchbeirs (Think AS….) A medium bodied smoked beer. Malts are fruity and sweet. Touches of smoky malts, caramel and toffee. Kind of subtle, the smoky flavors kind of hide in the background and then come darting out and taunt you. There is also a very nice malt sweetness in this beer that really compliments the other flavors. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Bottle. Label says bottled on 02 09 04. Poured a small sized white head that mostly diminished, sparse lacing, fine-small sized bubbles, transparent, carbonated, and an orange hue. Malty, smokey aroma. Sweet, malty, smokey, watery and thin flavor. A mostly smooth, slightly tingly mouthfeel that was also watery, thin and dry. Light body.

medium sized frothy head of fine to medium sized off white colored mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a softly carbonated transparent light brown colored body and a fair lacing. The aroma contained notes of mild malty smoked burnt wood. The mouth feel is smooth mildly tingly and filled with a smoky ,malty thick aftertaste. The flavor is also smoked malts. OK for a Rauchbier not too smoke, but somehow it still did not work well for me.

04.16.05 Brewtopia ’05, 500ml bottle. Beery beer first, smokey beer second. Good dose of smoke on nose. Smoke flavors do not let down though are not in great balance with graininess. Maybe a little raw, a little burnt. A quaffer.

Amber color, Smoked ham aroma. Full bodied, malty, a light smokiness in the flavor. Hints of peach and butter. Fairly low on carbon. Excellent, would be very suited as my daytime beer.
