Some roasted nuts. Full-bodied, but not as crisp as I would have liked. WakeandBake (497), Greenville, Michigan, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 16, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Dark-malty aroma features fruit (melon, orange) and cigar smoke elements. Pours an amber-tinted translucent brown with a moderate amount of beige head and fleeting legs. Sweet, malty flavor; carmel and roasted nut notes; lemon sourness and slight hops bitterness; reminiscent in taste of a German dunkel. Odd carmel-like aftertaste. Moderate body and carbonation. Creamy texture. An interesting beer but not a particularly good one. SJP (483), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 25, 2002 Aroma is a little yeasty, but I expect that from a Scottish Ale. Very smooth, with a little too much alchol flavor though. Almost a carmel flavor, but I’m not sure. Gunshy (479), Ohio, USA

This beer was black as sin and had a light bubbly head that that left some oily lace. The aroma was of malt and sweetness with a slight hint of alcohol. The flavor was of malt and some sweetness I could not place. The body was lighter than some others of this style, but not a bad start for this company.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 23, 2006 On tap at the brewpub. Lots of smoky peat in this medium brown ale, all balanced nicely by sweet malts. Finishes with a slight alcohol burn. Trooper11 (468), Suffolk, Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Jan 3, 2007 Gift from homebrewing neighbor, thanks Jamie. Dark brown hazy brew with thick foamy head that gives the illusion of rising bread dough which compliments the strong yeasty bread aroma and leaving behind heavy lacing. Aroma has notes of nutty maltiness and dark fruit. Very heavy bodied, cherry nutty flavor, lots of carbination, more on the malty sweet side with slight bitter hops peering through the thick head which is still hanging tough. A slight burn like a good brandy. Could probably drink this instead of dinner. Nice brew. Jake Barnes (456), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

This tasted a bit like a brown. Alcohol notes and a nice caramel flavor. Not bad but not outstanding.
