UPDATED: APR 17, 2018 Just a sip from a glass @ Pivovarský Klub, Prague (March 28, 2018). At first, the smoke doesn't taste at all - just sweet malts. After a while it hits nicely in a mellow way. Very good smoked beer.

Tap. Golden color with medium white head. Malty, smoky aroma. Taste, sweet malt, honey, saussages, bacon. Good.

(tap 0,5l @ OP (Brno)) Light malty, light smoky, light banana, later more smoke aroma, interesting. Light hazy dark golden color. Long lasting huge white head. Medium sweet, smoky taste. Medium body. Light sticky texture. Dry finish. Good rauch.

On tap in Nota Bene. Poured a medium amber with a dense white head. Aroma of biscuit, toasted malt. Medium body, flavour of the rauched malt is quite subtle, also sweet honey glazed ham, nice smokeyness lingers.

En fût. Pinte dégustée directement à la brasserie. Arôme: Légère odeur de fumée. Apparence: La couleur est dorée-cuivrée. Présence d’un large col mousseux et d’une fine dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de fumée avec une pointe de caramel. Longue durée de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture légèrement onctueuse. Moyenne effervescence en bouche. Draught @ Pivovarsky Klub, Prague. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma of malt, bread, fruit, smoke, grassy hops. Flavor is malt, biscuit, some sweet fruit, smokey, ham and campfire, grassy hops. Thin to medium body, soft carbonation, dry smokey finish. Very easy drinking beer. 280313

Draught at Pivovarsky Klub, Prague. Clear golden beer with a nice lasting white head. Malty biscuit aroma, caramel, nicely balanced smoke, toffee, grapes, some hay. Malty flavor, caramel, biscuits, some hops and a nice layer of smoke. Very well balanced, and the finish brings light smoke, hay, toffee and biscuits.

On tap at the brewpub (03/03/13) and at Zelena Kochka Pivarium in Brno. Hazy gold pour with frothy white head. Smokey aroma, almost fishy, beechwood smoke, light meaty notes, honey, light fruitiness. Taste is smokey, very light caramel notes, grainy and smoky, light meatiness. Palate is a winner, perfectly fluffy yet dry, a smoked beer that is made like it should be, light, not cloying.

My Bottom Line:
Salty, smoked ham, honey-glazed if you please, slowly dips into an herbal, wooden hop finish for a most velvety smoked lager.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the hazy honeyed gold.
-Subtle oranges appear in the flavor profile.
-Drinkability is sky high.
-This is perfect, yet different. Another amazing brew from Malostransky Pivovar.
-This one’s not trying to emulate German Rauchbiers. It has it’s own character AND it’s perfectly rendered. What’s not to like?
