Commercial Description:
The Black Magic IPA, as the name implies, is going to have the look of a stout and the taste of a regular IPA. It will be dry-hopped with Chinook only yielding a piney, resinous, and lingering bitterness. We will update the post with the ABV when it is done fermenting. Check back to find out!

Metallic black wax bomber. Pours a translucent, dark mahogany to cola brown color. A small, khaki colored swirl of froth sits at the head, forming a bubbly edge. Wet arches break apart into scattered spot lacing. The nose comes across quite hoppy, showing resinous pine, citrus, and hints of earth, all backed up by a base of black patent malt, dry cocoa, and a good deal of grainy roast. Flavor are similarly structured, again quite aggressively hopped with piny-earth bitterness and hinting at mixed citrus. Smooth, dry cocoa malt, along with a bit of blackened caramel, provide the counterpoint, though it remains well on the bitter side of balanced. Slightly more substantial than medium bodied, the palate comes across smooth and slightly dry, with moderate carbonation and a lingering, piny-roasty finish. As black IPAs go, this one is pretty nice.

thanks to fishingnet for the share. A: Pours a nice brownish black hue with a small head. Nice retention and some spotty lace. S: Aroma is like a bag full of pine needles, resinous and sappy. Hints of roast pop through as well. T: Hopped up for sure. Lots of pine with hints of citrus rind. Notes of roast can be picked up. The finish is more bitter herbal nice. M: Medium in body, nice carbonation, nice biting bitter finish. D: Good drinking tasty IPA. Win.

Bottle courtesy of fishingnet. Pours a dark cola brown with thin tan head. Aroma is big bouquet of hops, citrus, grapefruit, spice, pine, malt. Flavor is much of the same--lots of floral hoppiness. Generally medium body with a floral hop finish.

Thanks fishingnet for the share. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Nose is roast, malt, piney bitterness with some resin that smells a bit sticky. Flavor is similar with resiny pine hop bite and some toasty to the malt. Very interesting beer.
