Commercial Description:
Odell Woodcut No. 3 is artfully combined Crystal, Cara, and Munich malts to create a pleasant sweetness and an appealing red color. Hints of caramel, raisin, and toasted almonds are balanced by delicate hop flavors, and the beer’s distinct oak aroma enhances the finish. Woodcut No. 3 is a perfect pairing for the traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

Bottle pours murky red-brown with a healhy beige head. Aroma shows toffee, nuts, vanilla, apricot, raisin, perfume, and what seems like a slight bit of nail polish. Flavor shows the same with added notes of oak. Body is moderate, creamy, and the carbonation is soft. Alc is pretty well hidden, but still pokes it’s head up around the finish, tagging along with the hops. Something tells me that I would have liked this beer much more if it wasn’t for the nail polish.

Bottle 6363m bottled 11-09. The pour is a nice, hazy, crimson color with a full, yellowish beige, creamy, fluffy head which is somewhat lasting and leaves nice Belgian-type lace. The nose is pleasant and balanced with raw oak shavings, toasted almonds, dry toffee, light raisins, light vanilla bean, and some hints of spice. The flavor is similar but a sweet middle without balance detracts from the overall flavor a bit; notes of toasted almonds, toasted caramel lead to sweet toffee and vanilla in the middle. The finish carries raw oak, light spice, some lingering almonds, and an emergence of some spicy, floral hops. The palate is nice for the beer with a more than medium body, less than moderate carbonation, and a velvety, round mouthfeel. Much better than last years Woodcut with much more a balance between the oak and the other notes, and a nice hop presence in the finish. For an 11% beer only bottled 3 months, the drinkability of the beer was amazing; it was more like a 6-7% beer. Nothing amazing about this but it was very pleasant to drink.

My oh, my what a wonderful smell! I had a sample of this beer awhile ago and was amazed then, and now that I’m finally having a full beer, it’s every bit as good as I remember it! The beer pours a dark reddish brown and has a small beige head with good lacing. Smells like Vanilla, oak, bourbon, and malt. Pretty awesome. This one tastes alot like it smells, which suits me just fine. It has a nice creamy full body has a smooth finish with a little something to warm you up a minute later. Amazing beer even if is reaaaaaly expensive.

750 ml bottle (bottle 1153) from cbkschubert, thanks Craig. Nose of oaky vanilla, caramel, nuts (I smell what they call the toasted almonds). Rusty copper with a medium glass lacing beige head. Flavor is vanilla, caramel, nuts galore, oak, light sweetness with a hint of bitterness in the finish.

750ml bottle #2056 @ RSRIZZOS tasting (Courtesy of BeerandBlues2)-Pours a hazy/cloudy copper. Aroma of oak, apricot, pear, and other fruits. Taste of oak, fruit, and alcohol. This full bodied brew was not bad but a bit too hot and not as good as 2.
