Commercial Description:

"A deep copper coloured brew, offering the beer connoisseur the complexity of flavour expected from thrice hopping and longer fermentation, leading to a fruit character from both the late kettle Goldings and yeast fermentation flavour, balanced by a soft bitterness, malty sweetness and full floral aroma of Fuggles dry hops."
Ingredients: Pale Malt, Roast Barley, Black Malt, Flaked Barley; Galena, Nugget and East Kent Goldings hops.

(Draught@Hilpeä Hauki) Clear deep copper with a small, firm and lasting head. Very mild aroma with toffeeish malt and berries. Strongly berryish flavor (red currant) with woody-nutty hops, and some hay-citrusy hops in the finish. Medium body, soft and lowish carbonation, but hard water. Feels like a berry ale, although thats probably not intended..

On nitro at the brewpub. Reddish copper with creamy off-white head and nice lacing. Big dirty grapefruit and spicey hop aroma with off-dry caramel, resiny citrus and a little blood orange. Flavor is fresh, resiny citrus and not as bitter grapefruit as the aroma, dry, pretty big, almost astringent bitterness, nice though. Medium, creamy body. Very tasty.

Source:Sample at the brewpub.
Glass:Sample glass.
Appearance:Dark amber pour with a thin beige head.
Aroma:Very malty with hints of citrus.
Flavor:Solid malt base with a citrus finish and a bit of warming alcohol on the end as well.
Palate:Medium/full body with soft carbonation and a brutally lingering bitter finish.
Overall:Solid strong ale. There are some things that could be better, but solid overall.

[2148-20090515] Tap. Mushy green peas and veggie yeast aroma. Clear, red orange body with a thick long-lasting creamy off-white head and thick lacing down the sides. Rough flavour is like dry-ripped leaves and bark hops. Rough medium body. Tastes stronger than it is, really interesting.

2009-05-15. Red-brown body with a small creamy beige head and lace. First sip is pleasantly hoppy, quickly followed by some brash alcohol with sweet malt in tow. Pleasant malt core is sweet but hop bitterness and lightly warming alcohol overtones end up being the focus of your attention. (7+) Aroma is mild, and not helped by the shape of the sample glass unfortunately. Mild hops and malt managed to make a bit of an impression. (6+) Average plus palate. Pretty decent. On tap at the brewpub.

Clear red brown pour with a thick white head. Malty aroma with grain and some maple. Strong flavor with lots of malt. Some hops, but a bit funky with some unpleasant flavors.

A Mes rate: tap at the Porterhouse. Clean, bright amber with a slim off white head. Bland fruity aroma with some fairly clear alcohol. Rather harsh and unrestrained in the mouth. Strong notes of straw and hay with a big hit of cheese and alcohol in the finish. Out of balance and a bit cheap all round. Something to get folks drunk who don’t really care what they throw down their neck, so long as it does the trick...
