22 oz bomber - pours an opaque black with a hint of brown head that quickly disappears - Roasted malts in the aroma - medium to heavy mouthfeel - slightly bitter on the palate - not a typical DIPA but still very enjoyable

Bottle opened on the bus ride from Orlando to Tampa Bay Brewing Co. Pours dark brown with light tan head. Very caramelly aroma with some pine hops. Bitter pine hop flavor with some toasted maltiness. Medium body with average carbonation. Thanks to KP for sharing this one.

Appearance: Pours out a clearish, dark brown body with a bubbly, sudsy, beige-colored head. Smell: Pleasant mix of various hop and malt notes: roasted barley, robust coffee, chocolate squares, citrus, and lightly resinous pine. A bit of warmth pulls out more chocolatey tones. Taste: Dark, roasty maltiness developing tastes of bittersweet chocolate and Colombian coffee with some soft caramel sweetness. An iota of dark fruitiness. The hops are made to compete with the earthy roast character here, though still they manage to present pine wood, citrus fruits, and a few coarsely-chopped mint leaves. Moderate bitterness that couples with the roastiness. Finishes dry, subtly warming, and roasty with a few final hints of spice and citrus zest. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with a moderately smooth mouthfeel. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Fairly enjoyable, well-rounded brew. Not nearly as notably hoppy or bitter as some of these so-called Black IPA’s (or in this case Walnut Brown IPA) on the market today, which is fine with me. It’s good to see RJ Rockers rolling out some new brews now that they’ve settled down in their new facility.

Blue wax dipped bomber. Pours a translucent chocolate to chestnut brown color. A small, frothy, khaki colored head leaves minimal, spotty lacing behind. The aroma shows a malty base of chewy nougat, cocoa, and barley roast, all countered by a substantial showing of earthen hops and hints of resinous spruce. Traces of dark coffee lend further roasty substance. Flavors follow suit, offering a nice, slightly dry chocolate malt base, countered by further coffee and grain roast and some bold, earthy hop content. The mouthfeel is relatively light for the style, sporting moderate substance, low to moderate carbonation, and a relatively smooth consistency. Bitter, earthy, and roasty on the finish. This is a pretty solid black IPA.

Pours deep red/brown with off white head, aroma is big zesty lemon and orange hops. Taste is grapefruit, lemon, orange up front leading into some smoky and bitter finish. Good version of a dark IPA, much more IPA than dark, but tasty.

nice amber color. smoky aroma. off white head. nice tangy hoppy flavor. great soft feel and fairly smooth going down. good beer.

Draft at Brewvival: No noticeable aroma. Cloudy brown, medium yellow head, good lacing. Dirty mud and bark flavor, not very hoppy. Rather like a strong black lager. Alcohol unavoidable. Not one of the better "india black ales".
