COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Péché Mortel (French for "Mortal Sin") is an intensely black and dense beer with very pronounced roasted flavours. Fair trade coffee is infused during the brewing process, intensifying the bitterness of the beer and giving it a powerful coffee taste. Péché mortel is brewed to be savored; we invite you to drink it in moderation.

This stout style, high in alcohol and bitterness in order to favour preservation, was historically brewed to support the long and arduous voyage necessary to export the beer from England to Russia. The word Imperial comes from the fact that the beer was specially brewed for the Russian tsar’s court.

Poured a jet black with a thin beige head that disappears pretty quickly. Aroma is roasted malts and coffee. Flavor is primarily a big coffee with lite acidic notes. The coffee pretty much dominates this beer which is okay for me. Pretty big for not being barrel aged.

12 oz bottle . Color is a dark black, light beige head. Warming brings out the aroma which is strong of roasted coffee. Nice and boozy finish. Comparable to Dark Horizon but not as strong.

Pours a pitch black with a tan head. Smells like roasted malt and strong coffee. Taste is strong, bitter coffee with slight creamy chocolate. Mouthfeel is incredibly smooth and creamy. Best part about the beer. Overall incredible ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at barhop, Toronto. Pours dark brown with a red edge and a creamy off white head. Aroma is coffee and a little vanilla. Medium to full body, mild carbonation. Lots of dark fruit - raisins, prunes, figs. There's some coffee, treacle, vanilla too. The booze is noticeable but doesn't overwhelm. Well balanced. Good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pitch black pour with a light head. The aromas are fantastic. Coffee, smoke, vanilla, and coconut. Tingly first sip with licorice, bitter chocolate, espresso, slight hops and roast. Finish is super long and bitter. Great stuff.

pours dark oily brown black with tiny tan head. Nose is rich earthy roast coffee, wet dirt, bitter dark chocolate. Taste is rich bitter baker’s chocolate, wet coffee grounds, hints of smoky ash and soot, touch of dark fruits. Finish is creamy roasty coffee, dark chocolate, ashy cocoa. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle purchased from Capone’s. The beer pours a dark black, with no light passing whatsoever. The half inch of beige head settles over a minute or two to a thin sheet of single bubbles across the meniscus, and sparse lacing is left on the glass. Aroma is muted, possibly due to a colder serving temperature. Roasted cacao, soft coffee complexity, bitter and smoky malts. Flavor is coffee upfront, which serves as a solid backbone for a subtle creamy sweetness. Active carbonation brings all flavor aspects together; roasted malts, bittersweet chocolate, slight nutty complexity, with a bittersweet finish. Full bodied, and a creamy/oily mouthfeel. Really delicious and highly recommended.
