Commercial Description:
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

Aroma of scotch, brown sugar, currant and roasted caramel. Appearance was cloudy brown with creamy tan head. Flavor is similar to the nose, with most of the scotch elements most prominent. Palate is creamy. Very solid, well made brew.

A: Pours a nice shade of amber with red highlights showing through. No real head but it does have some legs. S: Nice sweet aromas. Caramel, brown sugar, chocolate, and light dark fruits. T: Raisin and caramel lead the way. Light chocolate, hints of earthy hops in the finish with a bit of boozy burn. M: On the ligher side of full in body, bold, smooth, with a perfect level of boozy burn in the finish.

12oz - Chocolate nose, bitter finish, some malt without being sweet. Hides the 8.3% well. Nice Scotch, not great.

This Dirty Bastard is in my opinion more similar to a Stout than Scotch Ales that I’m used to. It lends a caramel and toffee like taste along with a lingering mouthfeel. Very drinkable and a personal favorite both by name and taste.
