RE-RATE - Following numerous samples of this (most recently in the Corner House, Birmingham) I had to return and do this justice, as my first review woefully undervalued this excellent product. This is packed with flavour for the abv, has a nice tangy quality and a light, lip-smacking ability to provide refreshment. An Oakhams classic. (3.8 - 30/7/05) Handpump at the Bartons Arms, Aston, Birmingham. A restrained, but insistently tasty pint. This is very much like an English Pale Ale, but it doesn’t really deliver a hoppy punchline in the same way. Tasty, bitter, and with some fruit and floral notes. Light, very easy drinking, but flavoursome and rewarding. A good product all round. (3.2 - 4/3/2004)

A session bitter a bit too fizzy and larger syled but it’s a fantastic bridge for the larger crowd onto craft beer. A nice balance hoppy ale of citrus and a slight edge of gass. Poured into a pint glass from bottle. A small foamy light head. Sickly yellow colour. Ideal for larger drinkers. Can knock these out on the summer beer festival rounds with little effects. Low abv. Could be spiced up a little. Good but not what I had hoped for. Suspect this could be pastuerised due to gassy offputting mouth feel when quaffed. However don’t deter that from a sip of a proper session ale. Want to try this on cask. Magic Dave get this on the rake mate.

Cask. Pours an almost clear golden with a white head. Fruity, lightly citrusy nose. Medium body, lightly sweet fruit with a dry finish. Quaffable but forgettable. 160110

Cask @ Hunter’s, Pori. Very pale anemic golden, tiny white head. Fresh citric aroma, grapefruit seed, little sweetness and grain. Flavor has spiciness, same citric fruits, looons grassy and slightly minty bitterness, little seeds and soapiness. Palate is on the lighter side, basic low carbonation. Really made for drinking in quantity, but still enjoying the hell out of it.

Cask at Sheaf View, Sheffield. Pale blond beer with tight white head. Great condition with floral and citrus hop aroma, great bitterness and each sip makes you want more.

Cask@Beer Hunters, Pori. Pale yellow color, decent steady white head, lace. Fruity orange, lemon aroma. Lime-peel bitterness, light lingering citrus in the aftertaste. One dimensional and a bit boring.

[Cask at the Nags Head, Reading] My first beer from this highly-regarded brewer pours gold with a moderate white head. Light citrussy aroma with floral hints and some straw. Very bitter on first taste, but soon reveals big citrus flavours - marmalade initially, huge juicy fruity bursts in the middle and bitter grapfruit in the lasting finish. An excellent beer that transcends a style I’m often not too fond of. I’ll seek out more beers by this brewer now.

Tried at the Bree louise on stillage, not much condition to this but it still tastes fantastic! a blend of rosemary and sauv blanc on the nose, floral flavours, elderflower and a nice grape skin bitterness

Cask at redlight. Semi-clear golden body with healthy head. Warm and smooth. Crisp feel. Nice hoppy body. Awesome.
