Bottle from Corks, Bristol. Red/brown in colour with a decent, off white head and plenty of carbonation. Aroma of fruity malt, chocolate and a touch of floral hop. Sweet, caramel flavour with more chocolate, jammy fruit and spice, leading to a dry finish. Very good.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours exactly as it says on the bottle,ie ’mahogany’ with a beige head. Malty nose with aromas of fresh herbs, toffee, sweet spices, some coffee, chocolate. Flavours of caramel, herbs, licorice, raisins, vanilla, brown sugar.. Has an old ale feel to it. Sweet, malty mouthfeel. Finishes dry, sweet with gentle hoppy notes.

Bottle from Corral Liquors in Granite City. A nice mahogany color. Rich fruity aroma. This has a good complex taste, slightly wine-like, with some hops. I’ll get more.

Appearance: Clear dark amber with a small white head, some lacing
Aroma: Raisins, caramel and other dark fruits
Taste: Silky mouthfeel, sweet malts, sour finish with a lingering metallic taste
Can’t say I like this very much.

Pours a red-brown with a slight tan head. Aroma is caramel, raisin, malt, and something like wood. Subtle flavors of grape and raisin struggle to compete with the malty sweetness. A little bit of alcohol. Finishes with a bit of smoke. A pleasant sipping beer.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. It pours a handsome mahogany amber with excellent clarity and about a three-quarters inch head of of silky, tan bubbles. They recede but never entirely. A pleasing aroma of raisins, malts, yeast, and maybe just a little bit of alcohol. The taste is also sweet and bitter with a subtle hoppiness toward the end. This was a likeable beer.

Clear red pour with little to no head. Smell of fruit dominates. Wife loves the taste. I don’t.
