COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
A blend of 1/3 young beer and 2/3 of beer aged 2 years in large oak vats. The more important proportion of oak matured beer contributes to its fruity taste, complexity and intensity. The finish is worthy of a great wine.

The famous Vlaams Brown from Belgium. Extreme attractive sour smell and taste. Nothing else smells or taste like it. It feels like sour cherries in your mouth. Every beer lover should once try it.

Really nice aromas and flavors of sour cherries, other tart fruits, grainy malt and some funk. Dark brown and ruby color with a medium weight and smooth palate. A sophisticated beer.

Surprised I have never rated this. Had on tap last week in Bruges and Ieper. Appearance is ruby reddish light brown with quite a stable beige head. aroma is yeasty, dusty, berries (cherry), oak. Taste is cherries mixed with yeast and oak. Not too sour - delicately so.

A fun quirky beer, sour, moderate carbonation, fruity, a beer worth buying again but not in a 6 pack form

Aroma: Deep rich black current of wild yeasts Appearance: Clear reddish brown colour and thin head Taste: Rich sour, light sweet, astringent Palate: Medium full body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation, and abrupt finish of the wild yeasts

330ml bottle from The Beerhive. Small off white head, light bubbly lacing. Cloudy reddish brown body. Nose is sour apples and cherries. Flavour is sweet and sour at the same time, apple, cherry, tart lemon. Bit of a wine flavour on the finish. Great mouthfeel, light carbonation with a big swell on the tongue, dry finish. This is magic.

Sampler from Happy Gnome. Amazed never had. Reddish pour with some whiskey color. Sweet cherry, quite fruity. Lighter than a typical sour. 13.6

Maker: Brouwerij Rodenbach (Palm), Roeselare, Belgium *** Beer: Rodenbach Grand Cru (bottled, unfiltered, 330ml) *** Style: Sour Red Ale *** ALC.VOL.: 6.0% *** "A blend of 1/3 young beer and 2/3 of beer aged 2 years in large oak vats. The more important proportion of oak matured beer contributes to its fruity taste, complexity and intensity. The finish is worthy of a great wine." [brewery notes] *** Colour: Dark mahogany, hazy, with a small beige head. *** Nose: Sour cherries, balsamico vinegar, yeast. *** Texture: Medium body, a bit watery. Moderate carbonation. *** Taste: Intense sour cherries with a strong yeasty note, with a slightly sweetish fruitiness quickly dispelled by tart, acidic notes. Middle is a bit less aggressively sour, more yeasty, with lemony notes. Finish is lemony, with a whiff of cherry. Lasting yeasty aftertaste, again with cherries. Now more mildly sour. Impressions: I’ve had this beer several times before, never reviewed it. It is truly one of the world’s great beers, and a must-try for every beer enthusiast. It will not please everyone, because if you can’t deal with sour grapes [sic!], this isn’t for you. But a great fruity, sour cherry beer.

Bottle. Clear ruby-brown colour. Aroma cherry, woody, almonds, light basementy. Taste is very nicely balanced, only subtle sourness, lots of sherry cherry woody notes but wonderfully mellow, easily drinkable. Excellent.

Tap at Fermentoren Aarhus. Pours a dark, deep, reddish brown with a small, off white head. Sweet, tart, cherry, oaky, balsamic glace, bbq-sauce without smoke. Avg carb, sticky body. A classic.
