Edward (1917-2002) is our grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his five children.  In his honor, this American Pale Ale is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Edward’s well.  It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and dry hopped.  Aromatic and flowery, with impressions of citrus and pine, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Edward.  13.5ºP, 85 ibus, 5.2% abv. Pale and Caramel malt; Centennial, Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, and Warrior hops; House Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

2L growler. Deep hazy copper. Big white head. Excellent lacing. Excelleng retention. Simple but clean hop aroma. Variety of citrus and pine. Nothing necessarily distinct or strong, but a nice hop nose. Biscuit malt rounds it out. Perfect balance of hop and malt flavor. Never overpowering. Citrus, slight sweetness to the malt, then pine hops. Biscuit malt in the back and just a slight bitterness. Medium bodied. Drinkable in its balance. Medium carbonation. It took me two glasses to really appreciate the majesty of this beer. It’s everything I want in a pale ale and just about perfect.

Draught at John Brown Smokehouse, LIC. Hazy bright orange with small spongy off-white head, grassy hops aroma, medium carbonation, sweet starting taste turning into hoppy bitterness soon, well balanced full body, long hoppy finish. As good as it’s been known.

Tap, by the pint at Three Penny Tap Room. It pours cloudy orange with a decent white head. The nose is fresh, juicy, orange, mango, peach, pine, light grass and orange muffin. The taste is crisp, bitter, bitter orange, grapefruit, pine needles, light grassy dank vibe, minerals and pepper with a bone - dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Well-rounded and very drinkable.

Draft. A hazy golden beer with a lazing white head. The aroma has notes of citrus fruits, straw, hops, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of lemons, oranges, straw, hops, and malt, leading to a bitter finish.

Poured a deep gold with a modest head and some lace in a snifter. The aroma was pine, citrus (orange and lemon zest), grass and hay. Taste is well balance of the pine and citrus hops, some mild sweet malts to balance, and a crisp full flavored finish. Modest carb. Beautiful beer.

Reminds me of MBC Lunch if Lunch had farmhouse hint and hops were better refined. Excellent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
