Aroma: Light dark malt not very roasty.
Appearance: Dark borwn in color, clear with a thin head.
Flavor: Off flavors this tasted odd and was not near a stout but they tried.
Palate: Dry off finish with a OK Mouthfeel.
Overall: Not super tasty this was just not a good bottle of beer.

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jan 2, 2010 Bottle:   Nearly black, pale black coffee in color, thin sudsy off-white head, spotty lacing, light carbonation.   For a stout it seems a bit translucent, or should I say it is not all that thick.   Pale roasted malt
nose, slightly lactic, otherwise a barnish funk.   Thin, thin, thin... doesn’t taste like a stout.   This is, at best, a Dark/Black bier.   Dusty, musty, very basement like in its maltiness.   Has a pale lactose like
sweetness.   Body and mouthfeel are certainly on the thin side.   Extremely light for a stout.   Not what I expected.   Pretty much a Black Bier.   As a Stout... forget it.

MIldly malty and roasty aroma though mostyl neutral. Light to medium roastiness, interesting grain character with some cough syrup notes. Light cough syrup, roast finish that slightly numbs the mouth. KyotoLefty (1566), Kyoto, Japan

Pretty nice color. Not quite the opaque, pitch black of the better stouts Very thin nose. Smells a bit sweet, little hop aroma. Quite like a Japanese "black." Slight burnt, stout-like flavor, but very weak on hops and malt. Not much of the burnt taste, either. Not a terrible beer overall, quite drinkable in fact, especially for the price of about ¥156. No where near a good stout, though. Fails in that category. Not near enough flavor of any kind. harrisoni (7016), Ashford, Kent, England
