Commercial Description:
Made in the tradition of the classic English Brown Ale, Big Horn has a full-bodied, slightly sweeter, malty flavor and a pleasantly dry finish. Editor's Note: Big Horn Nut Brown has made appearances at a couple of Rock Bottom locations, including Minneapolis and Atlanta.

Sweet roasted malt aroma with hints of nut and molasses. Dark reddish brown, small, off-white head. Some lace. Nice mohogany color. I’ve tasted nut brown brews like this before. Good, subtle nutty finish. There are clear nut notes. The best brew out of my 8 beer sampler.

Tap at MSP. Clear brown pour. Small white head. Earthy nutty nose with malt. Taste is more of the same. Decent drinkable brew but not spectacular.

Draft sample at MSP. Poured a clear dark brown color with an average creamy off-white head that was mostly lasting and produced good lacing. Moderate roasted nutty malt and small earthy hop aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium toasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Good drinkable brew.

Pint at MSP airport. Dark brown beer. Aroma is fairly light. A bit of light cocoa and some herbal/spicy hoppiness. A little bit of soapiness comes up on the back. A bit of astringency that isn’t all that appealing. Meh... completely uninteresting.

A reddish brown ale with a thin off white head. A nutty chocolate malt with light dark fruits. In mouth, nutty ale with fruity esters, a bit of boiled vegetables. Medium bodied. On tap at MSP location, Jan 24 2009.

Sampler at MSP airport. The beer is clear but dark enough to make lower clarity. The aroma is dark, very woodsy, and light roast. There is some caramel sweetness as well. This caramel sweetness turns weird in the flavor, a bit vegetal and astringent in the finish, really kind of turned me off.

Serviceable brown, the aroma of a malty brown. Thick brown colour with a little white head, and follows with a trail of lace. Some hazelnut flavour, not a bad one for a compulsory part of a regular lineup, though a bit on the sweet side. A bit of malt aroma.Appropriate carbonation.

From a sampler on 10/17/08 at the Minneapolis airport. Dark brown in appearance with a light malt aroma. Taste of cocoa and malt with perhaps a hint of dark fruit. Not too shabby. One of the better offerings at this location.
