Commercial Description:
Bottle: pasteurised. Bottled by Marston’s.
Combined Harvest is a unique combination of brewing worts, or extracts from a variety of cereals. Most premium ales are brewed only using malted barley, but this multigrained beer has a unique multigrain blend of malted barley, oats, rye and wheat. Grainy tasting with a delightful floral start and finish.

Small white head. Fair lacing. Fully diminishing longevity. Clear, thin, light-amber body. Rich aromas: moderate malt, molasses, moderate hops, honey, guarana and barley. It also tastes a little like guarana, and also like corn flakes with honey. Initial flavor: moderate sweetness, light acidic and bitter. Final flavor: light sweetness, acidic and bitterness. Average duration. Palate: light-medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation and lightly adstringent finish.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is light to medium amber. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, apricot), with light notes of diacetyl, metal. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Ordinary, if maybe a bit more brightly hopped than a lot of bottled bitters that come across the pond. Drinkable but not very enticing.

Appearance: Pours out a clear, dusky orange body with a thin, bubbly, white head. Smell: Humble, simple aroma smelling of loaf bread, sliced fruit, and hard toffee. Taste: Barley, wheat, oats, and rye? Well, it all comes down to a diluted bready malts with a lightly sugary toffee-tasting sweetness. Estery ale yeast fruitiness. Touch of herbaceous hop character and bitterness. Tiny boost of spice before the dry maltiness of the finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-low carbonation. Drinkability: Sorry, Bateman, but the intended effect and impact of the combined harvest was pretty much lost on me. It’s acceptable for a light, quaffable ale though!
