Pours a thick black with a thick, creamy head. It has a bitter aroma of dark, roasted hops. The taste is of very bitter, dark barley with a hint of hops. It has a slightly watery mouthfeel, which I don’t care for, but is definitely better than the US bottled version.

Can. Poured dark brown, opaque, and with the famous, thick, meringue head that stays constant. Subtle yet sweet aroma with a barely noticeable breadiness. Smooth entry with a creamy texture and a finish with hints of milk chocolate and a lasting bitterness.

Won’t go into too much detail on this one. Everybody’s had it. It’s a classic that, when poured correctly, really can’t be beat. Every other stout really must measure up to Guinness. It pours as a deep brown, milk chocolate tone and settles to nearly black with a thick, creamy head. It’s thick, sweet with a hint of bitter taste to it. Still one of my favorite beers.

A pint o’ Guinness on St.Paddy’s Day. Some juges this beer much too hard on it’s taste compared to other Stout available worldwide. I can have St.Ambroise Noire à l’Avoine everyday, but still, a pint of Guinness is an experience. It’s like opening up a can of Ireland and being Irish for 20 minute. Dark, but not black, creamy, salty/bitter, watery by the end...Still, a pint of something more than a beer.

I’ve never rated this beer for some reason and thought it would be appropriate on St Patrick’s day. Pours a dark black with a thick, creamy head. A decent stout but I’ve always thought that it gets to much credit. A bit watery, not a whole lot of flavor and at the same time a little too filling for what it is. That having been said, I still often find myself ordering one of these during the course of an evening.

Served up at Browne’s Market & Deli, KC, MO. Actually enjoyed back on March 14, 2010. Nitrogen. Served in an English pint. Poured a nearly opaque dark, dark brown, with that crazy dancing quality, as the nitrogen floats up and the beer drops down. Smelled of roasted-to-the-point-of-blackness malts, with subtle cooking chocolate, coffee, grass, and almond notes. Hops used almost solely as a bittering/balancing agent; very little hoppiness aside from the utter lack of sweetness. Tasted much the same, with that powdery, dryness. Very little carbonation. Classic. I should note that the Guinness’ on this particular day were extra special. Mr. Fergal Murray, one of two Guinness brew masters, was at the helm, teaching those present how to properly pour a Guinny. A very pleasant man.
