COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bamberg’s speciality, a dark, bottom fermented smokebeer, brewed with Original Schlenkerla Smokemalt from the Schlenkerla maltings and tapped according to old tradition directly from the gravity-fed oakwood cask in the historical brewery tavern.

Great smoked smell, dark brown appearance, not quite as smooth and good as their urbock which is amazing..little more tang and crispness on this one...still good but not great..wish finish was maltier and smoother

Strong beautifully & intensely concentrated smoked beer of summer sausage, ham and bacon. Beautiful colour with and acidity which ckpes with all of it. Nose and taste are married well. Greater yhsn yhe summ of its parts. An absolute classic.

UPDATED: MAY 3, 2015 Bottle. Is this the mother of all smoked beers? Appearance: dark ruby colour with beige decent foam. Aroma: smoke, bacon, a bit of chocolate, wood. Taste: mainly smoked bacon, also yeast, caramel, sweet toasted malts. Medium carbonation. Absolutely delicious!

Lane na Warszawskim Festiwalu Piwa, ciemna barwa, bogata i dość trwała piana. Wędzone. Pełne. Nisko wysycone. Dość pijakne.

Tap at Fermentoren Aarhus. Pours dark reddish brown with a medium sized, off white head. Aroma has lots of smoke, leather, meat, bacon, sausage and peat. Taste has a nice sweetness to balance out the smoke, that is less prominent here. Not very dry, but mellow and nice, despite being pretty smoky in the aroma. Avg carb and light, smooth body.

0,50 bottle purchased at the Beertija pub in Rijeka/Fiume and consumed in Opatija/Abbazia - Croatia on a hotel terrace over the sea at night. Pours chestnut honey bright, infinite brownish head lasting. Nose: smoked provola or better mozzarella cheese, hint of bacon, lavender, background of fresh herbal hops. Mouth: medium-soft carbonation, grassy, roasted grains, easy going beer I must say. Dry finish with distinctive bitterness. Aroma of sweetish malts, lots of smoked ham, caramel. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a light bittersweet finish. Like most of the others from this brewery, a very good Smoked beer.

Purchased from New England Wine & Spirit earlier today. $4.99 ($4.94 + $0.05 container deposit) for the 500 mL bottle.

To long-stemmed red wine glass, it pours a violet-tinted chestnut brown with which an off-white fluffy head 1 finger in length stood.

Aromas of barbecue smoke, German noble hops, DME, toasted sesame seeds, and cotton.
Tastes much the same with the addition of cracked black pepper, clean European yeast, mulch, and sweat.
More cracked black pepper, beech wood, and charred chicken skin experienced by swallow.
Wish there was more of a bite to this brew, but this is true to style and was the perfect day-beer with such beautiful weather.

Schöne braunrote Farbe, Schaum ebbt schnell ab, leichter Film bleibt zurück. In der Nase eindeutig Schinken. Im Trunk setzt sich der fort, allerdings nicht zu penetrant, das Malz kommt mit seiner süffigen Süße noch durch und klingt im Abgang noch nach. Perfekt zur Brotzeit.
