COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional dry Irish stout, full flavoured yet smooth. Roasted barley flavours are nicely complemented by notes of vanilla and aniseed. Enjoy with robust meat dishes or on it’s own off the shelf. Contains a yeast sediment, store upright and pour carefully. Best served at room temperature.

Bottle at home - pours black with tan head that lasts. Notes of chocloate and coffee in the aroma, good full mouthfeel. good example of a bottled stout

£2.99 for a 500ml Bottle in O’Reilly’s, Ireland (North):
Strong, dark malts with a lot of chocolate and some spice that includes some aniseed-like flavours. There is some light coffee on the nose along with plenty of earthy tones.
Black with the odd red tinge and a giant, dome-shaped head that is about two inches tall and foamy with good retention. Lots of sediment and lacing too.
Rich chocolate with some strong, earthly malts and further cocoa. I got some hints of sweetness and a coffee flavour that comes through strong around the middle then slowly fades.
Rough with a hard bitterness from the coffee coming through along with an abundance of spice and a lingering aftertaste that is also quite bitter. The beer had a medium body and carbonation was soft, although the balance was quite poor.

Not a beer that I enjoyed all that much sadly and one again another beer will go down as a poor Irish offering in my book. Lots of large of sediment in the glass despite my care when pouring and an overly bitter, earthy taste in my opinion.

First impression was a bit of a disappointment, but as written on the bottle you should best drink it at 10 - 12 °C. Letting the beer "warm up" clearly improves it. There’s strong roasted malt or coffee(?) notes, would have liked a bit more carbonation, but overall it’s a beer I would surely like to sample again. And looking forward to sample other beers of this brewery :-)

Bottle from Drinkstore, Dublin [151213]
Black, big frothy tan head, good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, yeast, some soft charred wood, slight spicy hop. Taste as aroma, some sweet dark malts in background, robust roast, some coffee grounds, bit of spicy hop in there. Palate - Moderate carb, light to medium body, fairly bitter roast. Finish is quite dry, dark malts, fairly bitter bit burnt roast linger, getting a touch of dark fruits in the finish as well. Overall - Perhaps a bit over burnt for me in the finish, but quite a lot of the flavour here for the abv

Wonderful bottle conditioned stout. Don?t forget to leave the dregs in the bottle. Nice and complex. Better if left to unchill a little if taking from the fridge.

Cask. High fluffy light brown body. Pitch balck body. Coffee choccolate liquorice aroma. Coffee liquorice roasted malt flavor with little bitterness, actualyy it feels quite watery. Low carbonation, short finish.

Colore nero intenso, abbondante schiuma beige compatta. All’olfatto principalmente pane, lievito, nocciola, caramello, vaniglia e frutti di bosco in lontananza. Consistenza cremosa e vellutata, carbonazione appena percettibile. Gusto pieno e deciso, piacevolmente amaro con importanti note di caffè tostato e nocciola. Il retrogusto è particolarmente duraturo.

Aroma of wood, hints of chocolate. Taste of the wood which lingers in the mouth after swallowing. Creamy and full bodied. Pour pure black with off white head. Head stays as it went down. Very low carbonation but it was there. Not bad.

The head is great, the body black. It smells roasty, coffee, balanced. The taste is roasty, intensive darkmalty-coffee, cacao aromatic, malty. Balanced and tasty, delicious. 13/13/12/13/13/13
