On Draft at the Capitol City Brewing Company in D.C. (11/28/06). A Russian Stout that pours black with a little head. Smells and tastes of coffee. Very big hint of chocolate mixed with coffee. Has a 10% ABV and you would never know it!

An awesomely rich imperial porter with a deep porter aroma and flavor and a huge alcohol content to boot. Finding a really great Imperial Porter is almost impossible anymore, but they hit this nail right on the head.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with an off-white head. Has an oddly musty aroma. A very thick palate and a big alcohol burn. This is good stuff in small amounts.

Tap @ Capitol City Downtown. Served in a huge 20oz snifter glass.
Black pour, very thin head. Aroma is of grassy hops and lots of green coffee beans. Deep roasted barley and sweet roasted coffee. Flavor is a bit green. Sweet espresso. Very nice coffee. Kinda strong, full flavored. Very hard to finish.

On tap @ Capitol City downtown. Dark brown with pretty much no head, just a light tan ring. Big aroma of chocolate, coffee, vanilla, smoke and even a bit of bourbon. Flavor is bittersweet chocolate and coffee and just a very light alcohol taste. Medium to full bodied with mild carbonation and a long roasty finish. This was very good, will go out of my way for more of this.

Serving: Draft. Appearance: Black with slight ruby highlights and a creamy, tan head. Aroma: Very roasty nose with notes of coffee and dark chocolate. Flavor: Super roasty with some husk, coffee, and slight caramel notes. Palate: Medium carbonation with a medium-rich, slightly dry mouthfeel and a medium-long finish. Overall: Pretty good, but it has a lot of stiff competition in the style. One of the better beers by Cap City though.

Draft @ Brewpub: Poured a midnight black with a tan head. The aroma was coffee and roasted malts. The flavor was heavy coffee and malts as well. Overall, the best beer I had at this brewpub.

GABF Taster Pours out black topped with a tan head. Aroma was of coffee grounds and rich malts. Taste more of the coffee and thick rich roast malts. A little thin for a IMP stout I would say. But still pretty tasty.

Sampled at GABF 2009. Black pour with an off-white head. STRONG, espresso aroma. Big coffee flavor that’s like taking a shot of espresso with just a hint of mocha. I’ve only ever sampled this so I don’t know how good an entire glass would be but I really enjoy this beer.
