Sample at En Öl- & Whiskymässa, Gothenburg, 2015, april. Deep dark brown/black with a dark brown mocca ring. Aroma is a wall of coffee, velvet oak, vanilla, chocolate, molasses, liquorice. Taste is big on roasted malty, oaky and sweet flavours, slight chocolate, soy sauce, ends lingering bitter with a roasted malt scent, slight alcohol. Big body, medium carbo, oily texture.

Bottle shared by Nic. Thanks! Near black pour, small head. Sweet chocolate, bourbon, oak, vanilla. Nothing new to say here. No idea how to tell this from any other barrel, but it tastes good.

Bottle at catch 22 bottle share! Pours a thick black with minimal ring of tan brown head. Aroma of big whiskey notes, vanilla and chocolate. Taste follows, big barrel notes with nice tasty stout back end. Smooth and easy for the booze, really nicely done.

Bottled. Pours pitch black with a small head. Aroma of roasted malt, bourbon, toffee, vanilla and chocolate. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry and with bitter notes. Medium to full bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A very nice Impy indeed.

2014 bottle from Blackwells in SF, CA. Nose is lightly boozy with a moderate vegetal character. slightly like oranges mixed with leftovers from the crisper drawer. Taste is better. Driven by booze, alcohol, and not much else. Lacks chocolate, coffee, roast, complexity. More of a general boost than any stout character. Fairly thin bodied with a significant alcohol warming to the point of being hot and fusel. While I am a sucker for this kind of beer, this is not well balanced and could use a more viscous mouthfeel, more body, and less hot alcohol

Bottle. Nearly black pour with a beige head. Aroma is boozy chocolate with some bourbon and caramel. Flavour is lots of caramel, some chocolate and a bit of a bourbon edge. A touch boozy but not overly so. Really nice and balanced, quite delicious.
