Bottle @ home. Thanks, Pat? Dark brow pour with no real head. Smells like smoked meat, tomato, and roasted nuts. Some hints of salt and grass. Mossy. Flavor is smokey and a little vegetal. Lots of smoked almond, salt, and maybe some cardboard. A little caramel sweetness as well.

not anything too exciting at first, but it really grew on me as it opened up. smoke, roasted malt & a hint of chocolate on the nose. smooth feel started thin but got fuller. flavor the only thing that has a hint of the tomato, but it’s not obvious...just an odd additional sweetness you just can’t place. a hint of smoke in the finish as well."

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle. Dark brownish-red pour with a tan head. The aroma is full of toffee and chocolate. The flavor is more complex. I get a lot of smoke and vegetable notes, as well as some chocolate, spices and pine. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Bottle at fletchfighters tasting. Thanks guys! Pours a dark brown colour with a light brown head. Aroma is malt, caramel, dark fruits, smoked notes and what I assume is tamarillo. Taste medium sweet leading to a dry roasty finish. Good one.

500 mL bottle at City Beer in San Francisco, served in a tulip glass. Pours dark chestnut with a medium, dense tan head that mostly remains and leaves slight fine lace. The nose has lots of roasted malts, along with smokey campfire notes. The flavour is fairly dry with roasty malts, along with campfire smoke and not much fruit. The finish is very nice, with subtle smoke and slight fruit that emerges as it warms. There is a touch of tartiness. On the palate, it is medium in body with a dry texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is an interesting brew, but a bit too smokey for my taste. The tamarillos are pretty subtle. 2012-02-17

Pours unclear dark chestnut brown with a creamy sandy head. The aroma brings such a sweet and smoky combo, but not overpowering, just right making it so pleasant and enjoyed. The flavor brings delicious smoky malts as well with a sweeter, barbecue flavored ending from the tamarillos I assumo that seem to be present and pleasant. Wow - so unexpected! The body is still creamy bringing it down so smoothly on the palate.

A - Pours a dark brown-black color with a finger of frothy off-white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing. S - Aroma is a mix of roasted chocolate malts, smoke vanilla, tomatillos, and some oak. T - Starts off with a mix of roasted chocolate malts, vanilla, and some tomatillos. Through the middle, the smoke and oak flavors come through with some milk chocolate. The finish is mix of roasted chocolate malts, smoke, oak, and some tomatillos. M - Medium-plus bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet and smoky finish. D - Very drinkable. Nice smoky porter with some nice complexity from the tomatillos. Good overall balance.

A-- Poured a dark cola color and settled black with tints of red. One finger light brown head that held up nicely and reformed well with swirling. No real lacing at all. S-- First thing that stood out was the smokiness of it. Fairly big and rich but dropped off sharply a bit after opening. Smoked or stewed Tamarillo also in the nose (far closer to smoked/ stewed tomato but who is counting). A little bit spicy and a little bit sweet in the nose as well. T-- Whole bunch of smoke in the taste. More like a big sip of liquid smoke. M-- Front is mostly sour acidic smoke and then that drops off to the classic porter taste. A little thin at times in the middle but a little bit of coffee in this. Back end, or finish is also a lot of peat like smoke with a sweet acidic finish. Think the fruit picks up the back end of this decently. Just not really that well developed yet. The smoke and wood is very obvious in the front and finish. Tamarillos add an odd taste to this. At times pleasant and other times not. Medium body and medium feel. D-- Think this needs to develop more. The smoke is good at times and at others a bit overpowering. One is good for now but will get a couple to cellar and see what happens in a year or so. Very different porter with some good things about it but think smoked porters are much better with age on it.

Bottle @ yespr. Pours a dark amber ruby color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity spicy weak smoky aroma. Fruity malty caramel smoky flavor. Has a fruity malty smoky caramel finish.

Bottle at yespr. Clear red-brown coloured with a medium sized beige head. Sweet and fruity aroma of caramel and pine needles with notes of smoke and roasted notes. Fruity flavour of caramel, dark chocolate ad smoke with roasted notes. Smoked finish.
